Our favorite DVC resorts are Beach Club and Saratoga Springs. Both are very nice and have nice pool complexes for the kids. Beach club has better location since it is in walking distance to Epcot and Boardwalk. If you want to stay near MK, then the closest DVC resort would be Bay lake Towers near the Contemporary. If you choose to stay at one of the Epcot DVC resorts, either Beach Club or Boardwalk villas, you could always walkt through Epcot through the back entrance and take the monorail to the MK from there. If you do not have park hoppers or would just prefer not to do all the walking then just take the bus to MK from Epcot resort area.

Wilderness Lodge Villas would be my choice. Short boat ride away from MK. Arguably, best themed resort at Disney. Excellent food choices for both adults and kids.

We have our third trip booked for BLT this summer. Our kiddos are 7, 5 and 2 and we spend most of our time in MK. With the option for a quick walk into the park and easy access to the monorail it's a no brainer for us. We love the Contemporary dining options as well.
Wilderness Lodge would be my second choice, it's superior to BLT in theming.

I am very biased for Beach Club or Boardwalk. We love the resorts and they have a lot of great amenities to offer including the boardwalk itself with loads of activities and restaurants. Both pools are great especially for kids. You are walking distance (or a boat ride away) from two parks. Plus access to Epcot that you can walk through and ride the monorail.

If you plan on spending most of your time at MK then Wilderness Lodge or Bay Lake Tower is the best option. WL has a better pool IMHO and the theming of the entire resort is great. You also can put your kids on a boat without having to take them out of the stroller in most cases.

BLT is within walking distance and may be easier to deal with if you need to rush back to the room for anything.

My son was 12 during our last trip, and he absolutely loved Wilderness Lodge. We would definitely go back again. I think the kids would enjoy the boat ride to MK.

You COULD do that, but bear in mind, Epcot's pretty darn huge. It's still a bit of a hike from Beach Club or Boardwalk to the front gate via International Gateway. Odds are much higher that taking a bus from your resort will be a shorter commute. The monorail is more fun, sure, but unless you're a fast walker through Epcot, and immediately jump on a monorail to the TTC and then immediately jump on another monorail to the MK, a bus will certainly take less time.

While I do see your point, you edited my original post and did not include the entire post. Here is what you quoted from my post:

But the actual post was :

If you notice, the last part of my post (that you conveniently left out), did mention the long walk and the bus option to MK. Which would likely negate your argument.

It seems as though you did this on purpose to have a reason to critique my post. Maybe the moderator would agree.? You would have had to cut and paste my original post so as to not show what was actually written.

Kind of dirty if you ask me.
