Duffy now appearing on Epcot restaurant Kid's menus

I didn't know there was a shop, but there is a meet and greet, Kidcot Duffy cutouts, kid's menus, and a poster and shelves about him in just about every merchandise location around Future World. If it that's not intrusion, then it's invasion. :lookaroun Oh, and I've seen managers wearing a Duffy polo too.

Pretty sure the masks have been replaced by Duffy cut outs.

How come they couldn't market something better? Would I mind that they put posters and a meet and greet for park CDs? No way! I'd gladly go up and get a picture with someone in a EPCOT Center 6 CD set costume. Why not market some wonderful piece of history and art from Disney's past? What about posters with modernized designs of the Horizons building on it? You know, something that has to do with Epcot.

Are you serious?

Should have just left Duffy in Tokyo only. He is obviously not as popular here while there they love Duffy.

To be fair, although I think it's the stupidest thing to hit the shores in quite some time, apparently they are selling well.

Then again, I don't get the Vinylmation thing either - you buy a sealed-up little box that seems rather expensive with no idea what is inside. I think a few of them are cute, but I am not going to buy a dozen of them in hopes of getting the one stinking one I want, LOL.

Hey, people are on vacation, they spend their money in crazy ways.

I don't really find all that to be, as you say, an invasion. For example, MouseGear carries all kinds of merchandise, so it doesn't surprise me to see him there. But, this is really a matter of opinion, so I'll agree to disagree with you on that.

The kidcot masks have been replaced with a Duffy on a stick as seen in the last photo in our news item here.

Yes, but the article never stated the masks were gone. It just showed a picture of the Duffy on a stick and said it was to be at the Kidcot stops.

In any case, as much as I liked the masks, I thought it was time for a change, but I am not sure I like the replacement. My kids however, were nowhere nearly tired of the masks.

Also, the masks were something that could be totally different ever time and allowed you to use your imagination. How many different colors can you use on the bear?

Also, is Sharpie still a Kidcot sponsor?

Exactly!

As an adult, it was hard for me to understand. But kids went crazy over those masks. They'd stop dead in their tracks for a chance to color the things and get a token attached. Every stop we went to was overrun with kids coloring masks.

(Every time I read a complaint about 'coloring with Aurora' I wondered if people had been past those Kidcot stations.)

The activity remains more or less the same. But the masks seem far more flexible and interactive than a cut-out of a bear.

Sorry to jump in the middle of this discussion. I haven't paid much, if any, attention to Duffy, however, I saw him for sale at the Studios when I took some family over this weekend.

I thought Duffy was only for sale at Epcot, which was part of the aura of mystery/appeal?

Epcot is the only place where guests will be able to meet Duffy.

Coming Soon: Uffy meet and greet, as well as Uffy merchandise. Come get your picture with an adorable, soft, plush sea urchin, who's justification and back story we are still working on. The DLJ likes urchins also. They're even on the menu (as food).

Thank you for that explanation. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the eyes and ears. I thought it was weird that the company was LIMITING THE SALE of a product to one park. HA! I should have known better.

There is now a Duffy stuffed bear waring a WDW 40th anniversary shirt at Epcot.

EDIT: And you can now buy him in all the parks. The largest I saw besides Epcot was DHS. There is a huge sign up now. And you can buy him in resorts. And for the record, I was not a Duffy fan before my recent trip but now I am. He didn't have a line and I just walked up. It is really sweet. I get it now an I think Duffy is a good thing.
