Hello

I have refillable drink mugs from my last trip, are they still useful? I don't know what the actual rules are for those mugs. Also, do they have a physically different form from one value resort to the next? I stayed at the Movies last time, and going for Pop Century this time.

Each Resort has their own mug, it is only good for the duration of the trip they were bought during. This is a very touchy subject as an argument usually ensues. :( I'm sure if you do a search on "refillable mugs" you will see what I mean. Do what your conscience tells you is right.

As "Piget..." said, technically it's one mug per visit and you'll see discussion about this topic throughout. When you go you'll see old mugs from the same resort, old mugs from different resorts and even old mugs that have nothing to do or were ever purchased at Disney. I've never seen anyone called on it, but you never know. I would feel odd bringing my old mugs anyway. Usually the design changes from year to year so each time is a new souvenir for you. Look at it this way. If you're spending all that money for the vacation, save the packing room in your luggage and buy new mugs each time.

I stayed at POP and while I was buying my mug the was a guy using one from an all star so I don't really think they have mug police. I am going in Oct and plan on bringing my back since I'm staying at POP again.

do whatever you want, when i stayed at pop i saw some woman and people she was with wilderness lodge mugs and i dont think anything got said to her or her group.
i dont think anyone would go upto someone and ask them to leave because they dont have that resort mug, thats just not disney for the time being!

OK hear is my take on the hole mug thing. my boss just came back last week from Disney and offered me her mugs she stayed at the same hotel i will be staying at and i am going in a month. i told her no thank you. its wrong i no that but thats not why i said no how much of a loser would i feel like if some-one noticed i was using last months mug. and pointed it out. if i can afford a trip to Disney i can spend a whopping 12 dollars on a new one just because i would hate to be the one person they catch in the whole year :lookaroun

Can pool-hopping be far behind?

How about a new twist to the argument... er... I mean thread. Let's argue about the ethics of pool-hopping while carrying last year's mug from another resort.

Honestly, I doubt that these posts cause many people to change their mind.:D

I can care less about what other people do. If Disney wanted to inforce the rules, they would. My mugs from each trip are some of my favorite souvenirs and are proudly displayed atop my kitchen cabinets for all to see how many times I've been to the world:)

I love my mugs!

I have been using my All Star Music one now since 2002 nonstop.....at home!

I love this mug...sure it's plastic, sure it's loud..but man you can't beat the memories it invokes or the great way it keeps drinks cold for hours! Last year when i visited i made it a point to pick up another one at Movies as the Music design was still the same! Du'oh!!

Yeah, i have considered bringing my mug back with me to use.....i will admit it. It was on my mind when i arrived and noticed that after 3 years, the design has NOT even changed on the mugs yet! If i had brought my old one, nobody would have known any different, but you know...it just did'nt seem "right". I guess this topic IS a moral debate in a way....but i'll be honest and say that the thought will cross my mind again to bring it this March when i return.

I'll keep right on using it....here at home! :D

As far as the debate goes, we actually have the debate in my house. My Jimminy Cricket is way too strong for what i do. I have gotten to feeling sick when i do somthing wrong or that i think is wrong. Well anyway, i thought that we should get the newer mugs for the 2nd time down but my parents said that they would just use my old one if i got a new one. I always use mine at home. The picture is almost fading i use it so often(luckly my friend got me a travel disney mug for christmas so that i can drive bc i had the other style as the WDW one) Well i was going to get a second mug, but i really didnt like the POP design that was tye-dye and didnt even have mickey on it. So go with your gut. If you use the old one, you'll be like a lot of people. If you get a new one, you'll have anohter to use at home. Good luck deciding.

Without getting into the mug debate, I will say this. Some of the cast members are absolute saints for not jumping all over the people who fill anything and everything at the drink fountains. Things I have seen filled include but are not limited to:

+ Mugs from other PARKS (IE: Universal, Six Flags)

+ Thermoses

+ 20 oz sprite and coke bottles (especially gross since folks have to put the lip-germ-grody opening of the bottle right up against the nozzle in order to ensure that it doesn't overflow)

+ GALLON JUGS!

Some of these things pass the realm of an old mug or a mug from another Disney hotel and go into the realm of pure brass spheres.

We went in DEC. and we bought 12pks cokes and a cooler from the publix down there. Way better deal then the mugs. WE bought those on oue trip in 2003.

i stayed ay music and have swam at dolphin and sports is that not allowed? who would know!

Not sure if you are kidding or not, but I have seen people escorted off resort property when they were unable to produce the ID needed to prove they were staying there (more than once). Pool hopping was allowed at one time, but not anymore as each resort has its own pool (though some are more elaborate than others).

As far as the mugs go...we buy 4 new ones each trip and we use them at WDW and again at home. Since we stay in the WL frequently we have quite a few sets from there and the design of the mug has only changed once since it opened.

Now, imagine thousands of people...perhaps hundreds of thousand of people bringing back old mugs and never having to pay for a beverage...

if you owned that business, what would you do?

Either do away with the mugs and make it a Pay-per-drink, or raise prices on everything else (if that's possible:lol: )
