Dreams Do Come True - An October Honeymoon Trip Report

Well, I’m back from my honeymoon! We had such an amazing time. We got back just two weeks ago. I wish the honeymoon could have lasted longer than a week but I guess we had to go back to reality at some point, right? Now that I am back and have gone through the wedding gifts, unpacked and more importantly, uploaded all of my pictures, I figured it was time to start my trip report. :D

A Little Introduction
This report includes Ashley (me) and my now husband, :)eek:) Wes. We got engaged at the Boardwalk Resort back on our December 2010 trip and I managed to work out a honeymoon trip on the Disney Dream and then a 3 night stay at the Beach Club Resort. I always said I either wanted to be engaged, married or honeymoon in Disney World and I was able to accomplish 2 out of 3. That ain't too bad, if I do say so myself.

Saturday October 22nd – Wedding Day
We got engaged back in December and it seemed like our wedding day was so far away. Well before we knew it, our wedding day was here and we were getting married! 10 months of talking to our venue coordinator, meetings with the florist, food tastings, trips to Michael's for wedding supplies, making seating charts and escort cards...It had all come to an end. Finally our wedding day was here and all the planning would pay off. And pay off it did. Our wedding was absolutely wonderful! I kept telling Wes that I wanted to spend the majority of the reception on the dance floor and I am happy to report that I was a dancing machine! I think I danced from about 9pm until midnight (with occasional trips back to my table to take a swig of my drink, of course). It was such a great night and everyone we talked to said that it was the best wedding they had ever been to! I would say that is a pretty successful party!

I don't have my professional pictures back yet but here is a couple that my cousin took from the reception.

Sunday October 23rd - Honeymoon Here We Come!
It was an early start to the honeymoon with the alarm going off around 7am the morning after our wedding. Our reception wasn't over until midnight the night before and then there were goodbyes to family and friends and we didn't get home until around 1:30am. So that 7am wake up time was a little harder than usual. I kept reminding myself that I could sleep on the plane and by the pool on the Disney Dream to make waking up a little easier. We left our house around 7:45am and were sitting at our gate in RDU by 8:10. I love being so close to the airport! Our flight was uneventful. We left and arrived on time thanks to the wonderful crew of Southwest airlines. We arrived at MCO and made our way to DME to check for our cruise.

IMG_1515.jpg

This was our first cruise ever so we weren't exactly sure what to do. The cast members directed us to the DME counter to check in. I didn't realize that you checked in for the cruise at the airport but I thought that was a great idea. We received our room keys, our bus boarding pass and then got in line to board our bus. Luckily we didn't have to wait very long and we left the airport to make our way to Port Canaveral.

IMG_1519.jpg

As you can tell, Wes was super excited

I was delighted that the bus ride was just under an hour. We pulled up to Port Canaveral and all I can say is Wow. The ship was huge! We made our way through the terminal and boarded the ship rather quickly, since we had already checked in at the airport. It was funny when we first boarded the ship and the cast member asked me for the family name. It was the first time I got to use my new last name! :D It sounded very weird but it was really exciting too. As soon as we walked into the main atrium of the ship I was blown away. That chandelier is amazing.

We still had dessert left and I had no idea how I could eat anything else. I got some honey crunch cake thing and Wes got the valrhona cake. Both were good but I couldn’t eat much of mine.

IMG_2328.jpg

We were done with dinner so we made our way to the Magic Kingdom to get a bus to the Beach Club. Unfortunately, because we were seated so late, we ended up leaving dinner around the same time that the Magic Kingdom crowds were at the bus stop. Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long for a bus and we were back to the resort. It was our last night in Disney.

Sunday October 30th – Time to say goodbye…

Today was our last day at Disney. I hate the last day so much. We were up bright and early and made our way to Epcot.

IMG_2331.jpg

We were just on this ship. I was already missing the Dream.

IMG_2333.jpg

We got to Epcot right at park opening. First on our list today was Test Track so we made our way through the International Gateway and to Test Track.

I really love thinking of fun poses to do on Test Track. I couldn’t decide what to do this time so these were pretty last minute choices. They turned out pretty fun.

After two trips on Test Track, we went to pick up our assignment as Kim Possible agents. I was really excited to see what missions were in the other countries. We picked up our mission and were scheduled to return at 11:05.

We went to Spaceship Earth next and made another crazy future. That segment is a really fun addition to this attraction.

IMG_2344.jpg

We then decided to check out the Innoventions pavilions. I don’t think I have ever been in there before. If I have it would have been before I could remember so I don’t really count that. I had heard about the Great Piggy Bank Adventure and was really excited to try it out. Wes was acting as my photographer.

I loved my piggy. So cute.

I loved the Great Piggy Bank Adventure. It is such a cute game to teach you about how to save properly. We were awesome at all of the games and were easily able to fill our Piggy bank well above the required amount we needed. I will be sure to make time for this on our next trip.

Up next was Captain EO!

IMG_2355.jpg

IMG_2356.jpg

LOVE it!

IMG_2357.jpg

It’s so nice to take a trip back in time to 1986 and see some classic Michael Jackson. I love the songs in this show too. So great.

After Captain EO, it was time to report for our Kim Possible mission. It looks like we were off to China to find a Jade monkey.

After we completed our mission in China we had enough time to do one more mission before our lunch at Le Cellier. We knew that we didn’t have a whole lot of time before lunch so we decided to take a mission in the UK so we would be close to Canada.

We really had so much fun with the Kim Possible missions. I am so happy we made time for this on our trip. We turned in our Kimmunicator and then went to check in at Le Cellier for our last meal of the trip. It seems that this was becoming a tradition to have our last meal in Disney at Le Cellier which is nice but is also bad because we are always rushing to make it on time to catch the DME.

IMG_2384.jpg

Mmmm…:slurp: Pretzel bread! My favorite!

For appetizers, I went with the Canadian cheddar cheese soup. Delicious! And Wes got his spicy chicken sausage.

IMG_2385.jpg

IMG_2386.jpg

For entrees, I decided to stray from the Filet and get the hamburger instead. I know, crazy, but the burger was really good. It was HUGE though!

IMG_2387.jpg

Look at the size of that burger!!

I really liked the burger and would absolutely get it again. Wes stuck with the usual and got the Filet.

For dessert, it was a chocolate mousse and some kind of smore thing. Both were tasty.

After that it was time for us to head back to the resort to catch our bus to the airport. :(

Goodbye, Disney World! See you real soon!

It was an amazing trip and I was really glad that I got to spend my honeymoon on the Disney Dream and enjoying the Food and Wine Festival. It was really hard to leave this trip but we made some really great memories as a newly married couple.

Thanks for reading! Happy Holidays everyone!! :D

Loved the report!!! You guys are too cute.

you had me seriously drooling over Wes' filet...that is what I always get when I go to my favorite restaurant EVER. Just can't get over Le Cellier. That filet is the best I've ever had anywhere. Love how you make it your last place to eat each trip :) Makes for nice memories.

Thanks so much for taking all of us on your honeymoon!!!

Ashley, your trip report was great! I love a TR with lots and lots of pictures! You've inspired me to get back to my TR from this past summer.

Just a couple of things:

I live very close to RDU, too. Howdy, neighbor! :)

Your wedding looked so beautiful from what I saw. Love your dress and the bridesmaids' dresses and really really loved the bridesmaids' shoes.

I'm absolutely dying to go on the Dream! So great that you got to go on the Dream and then spend a few days at WDW. :sohappy:

Thanks so much for sharing your honeymoon adventures with all of us.

Congratulations!

Catchin' up on the TRs! Looooved reading about your honeymoon adventure. You totally have me looooonging to be back on the Dream! I was super-witty like you, too....I have such a terrible sense of direction we were continually bringing up how I didn't seem to know my "aft" from a hole in the ground.

Love the Beach Club room decor! I think if/when we go back if we don't take up residence at the Yacht Club it'll be at the Beach Club. Sounds like y'all had a fun, relaxing honeymoon. Awesome!

And I gotta say, I'm totally impressed with how little amount of stuff you have on that Bell Services cart on the way back out. I think those poor Bell Services guys see us coming and think, "Oh.Em.Gee. These people are moving."

i really recommend the food and wine festival. it was so great to get to try all of the different foods and drinks at each booth. i will say that if you get annoyed by drunkards, make sure you go early in the day and then get out of there before it gets too crazy.

I do get annoyed by drunkards! The last couple of Food and Wine Festivals haven't been so hot for us because we made the mistake of going to Epcot in the afternoon on a Saturday. The amount of drunkards was a bit staggering. It wasn't a very "Disney" atmosphere.

I loved your report! I'm so hungry after all the food pictures!

I thought the same thing about the Bell Services cart! Ours never looks like that!

Thank you for sharing this with us, Ashley! :)

thanks! hahaha one of the best parts about being in the aft of the ship was all the jokes we could make about it.

i really liked the beach club. the location is just great for visiting epcot and its also so easy to get to hollywood studios. the yacht club is on my list of must stay at resorts.

since it is only me and wes we don't have a whole lot of luggage. if we had kids i am sure there would be a lot more luggage on that cart.

yea, its pretty crazy how much the atmosphere in epcot changes during the food and wine festival. i prefer visiting there early in the day before there are too many drunkards around.

thanks, tammy! we ate so much good food during our honeymoon. i'm glad i didn't weigh myself after we got home or i might have been very upset.

Just finished your TR... Looks like you guys had a super awesome time. I'm so jealous of how much of the F&W you all got to try. We went the last weekend in November and we didn't get to try a whole lot of stuff because it was SO busy!

I have the same pink and grey striped tank top! Forever 21?

Le Cellier is my fav and I don't think I could ever pass up that fiilet!! :slurp:

LOVE your costumes for the Halloween party!!!! I just saw Top Gun for the very first time in November (I know, I know... who hasn't seen Top Gun?!?!) and I loved it and was thinking about how cool it would be to see people dressed as Maverick and Goose, or even Maverick and Charlie :)

I like the looks of the rooms at the Beach Club. We're debating on where were going to stay in September. We've only stayed at the All Stars and the Wilderness Lodge. The Beach Club is quickly moving up the list though. I think it'll be between BCV and BWV. I'd like to be within walking distance to Epcot and DHS

Thanks for sharing and congrats to you and Wes!!

we really did have an amazing time. it was really great getting to experience the food and wine festival for the first time. since we devoted 3 days to just epcot, it was easy for us to find time to try everything we wanted at the festival. we also found that going to world showcase right when it opened was a lot less crowded than when we went back in the late afternoon.

yes, that tank top is from forever 21. :D

wes actually came up with the idea to get those costumes and i wasn't too sure at first but i really loved them once we were in the parks. it was really cool too to have so many people comment on them.

we really enjoyed the beach club but we both liked the boardwalk better. i think the decor and the theme of the resort was what i liked better. i also felt like the beach club was a little outdated compared to the boardwalk. both are great resorts though and you really can't beat that location. being able to walk to epcot is just so nice.

thanks so much for reading!
