Is there a video of that moment?

Several.

This is just one example.

Begin at the 3:09 mark for a entertaining lead up.....by Bob Iger...about Dreamfinder & Figment.
At the 6:00 minute mark, hear Mr. Baxter say what every longtime fan of these characters has been asking for ages - "When are we bringing Dreamfinder back..?"
The crowd loves the suggestion.

This particular video only shows Tony, so you miss seeing Bob's reaction.

P.S. - Be sure to listen to Tony's acceptance speech...inspiring words to live by.
Love ya, Tony !

“Figment 2” will be written by Jim Zub and penciled by Ramon Bachs. The Disney Kingdoms team shared with me the cover artwork created by John Tyler Christopher. He also drew an incredible action figure variant cover for this first issue (I know I’m not the only one wishing those action figures were real!).

I recently caught up with Jim Zub, who wrote the first “Figment” mini-series, to learn more about what readers can expect.

Steven: What was your reaction to the fan response to the original Figment miniseries?

Jim: “Working with these beloved characters and having our new story be embraced by Disney fandom was an absolute thrill. Whenever you’re working with established material, you want to find a balance between giving people what they expect and adding something new and unexpected. I’m incredibly proud we were able to do just that in a way that respect the core themes that make Journey Into Imagination so special.”

The miniseries was an origin story for Dreamfinder and Figment. Where do you hope to take readers with this new adventure?

Jim: “Our new journey picks up right where the previous mini-series left off. Figment and Dreamfinder are now in the modern world and they’re going to discover that a lot of things have changed in their absence. The legacy of dreams and imagination they left behind more than a hundred years ago is greater than they ever expected, but they’re going to find it hard to live up to their own legend. Couple that with a young dreamer inspired by the Academy Scientifica-Lucidus and a dark threat from an unexpected source and we’ve got all the ingredients for high adventure.”

I recall hearing you rode the original EPCOT Center attraction with Dreamfinder. Do you have a favorite memory from that experience?

Jim: “I visited Walt Disney World Resort over 25 years ago, so my memories of the original Journey Into Imagination attraction aren’t razor sharp. Going through the reference material sent over from Walt Disney Imagineering helped remind me of the main visual elements. We wanted to bring those elements into our comic in unexpected ways. Some of it is through lines of dialogue or lyrics of music, but also specific visual motifs as well. With both stories, I’ve tried channeling the feelings of wonderment and exploration the attraction left me with.”

Well it*s really nice to see confirmation that this series is indeed being continued.
This can only be a good thing.

Although i was a little disappointed in the overall story and interior art elements in the first series, i am still pleased to see these characters being *out there* and active in some form.
Nice to see that the success of the first comic series is being noticed by Disney and being furthered.
Now....about that new Attraction revamp.....
;)

The hardback edition is quite nice, by the way.
Be sure to find a copy soon as i am sure these are already hard to get at a fair price.

The spirit of Disney came to life in last year’s FIGMENT limited series from Jim Zubkavich—also known as Jim Zub—and Filipe Andrade as they brought Figment, the star of Epcot’s Journey into Imagination, to life. They must have done something right because the series skyrocketed in popularity with the first few issues selling out and going into multiple printings. The writer credits the success to the House of Mouse’s huge, dedicated fan base.

“On any project you obviously hope readers respond well, but the positive feedback and sales on FIGMENT were beyond our expectations,” Zub says. “Longtime Disney fans, many who had never bought comics before, hunted down each issue and let us know how much they enjoyed the story Filipe and I put together. It was an absolute honor to add to the mythos of these beloved characters.”

With success and popularity comes the demand for more stories set in that world revolving around the magical dragon. Zub explains that the upcoming story comes organically from the original.

“There are a few elements that grew out of material we didn’t use from my original pitch for the first FIGMENT story, but most of this is brand new and came from brainstorming I did after Disney and Marvel let me know that they were interested in continuing with a new series,” he says.

The new series picks up where the first left off, but in a completely different time period. As readers will remember, Figment and his pal Dreamfinder saved the world and were awarded by being stuck out of time for a century. The multitude of changes surprise our heroes, especially the lack of steampunk elements.

“The technological wonders we take for granted in our day-to-day lives seem like magic to our travelers from 1910, so that will definitely take some getting used to,” Zubkavich says. “Something as straight forward to us as a smart phone would seem like a magic box full of wonderment to someone arriving from that time period. Dreamfinder’s expectations of steam-powered science are in for quite a shock.”

In addition to all of the physical changes, Figment and Dreamfinder must adjust to how the world sees them thanks to their heroic legacy.

“With over a century passed, everything has changed at both the Academy Scientifica-Lucidus and the world at large,” Zubkavich says. “While our heroes have been away their reputation has grown, so now they have to try and live up to their own legend. I really like playing with the duality of that: they’re famous, but also feel out of their depth."

Dreamfinder and Figment will have to put aside their time traveling concerns to face an enemy the likes they’ve never encountered before while enlisting some new and old friends to help out.

“The new villainous threat is one closer and more unexpected than even our dreamers could have imagined,” Zubkavich teases. “I think readers are going to be really surprised at the twists and turns I’m throwing in Figment and Dreamfinder’s way this time. Balancing that out we’ve got the return of an old friend from the first series and a new companion with big dreams of her own.”

Speaking of new partnerships, Zub teams with artist Ramon Bachs on the next FIGMENT installment. Much like Figment, Dreamfinder and their new pal, Zub thinks this is a partnership with great deals of promise.

“Ramon’s really stepped up his game and it’s looking wonderful,” Zubkavich says. “His storytelling and expressions are top notch. Our latest adventure is packed with emotion and exploration and Ramon’s handling it all like a pro; big sweeping locations and small character moments alike.”

All I can say is that if they want to bring in something big to draw the crowds I think the return of Dreamfinder would pack that pavilion almost as fast as the new Frozen Ride not to mention when these new frozen goers come to visit Epcot there going to need something else to keep the kids occupied other then frozen.

Well, next year is the 45th anniversary of the Walt Disney World resort, so maybe they will bring back Dreamfinder in 2016? I doubt it but maybe they will, who knows? It never hurts to be optimistic!!!!
