True however I think the poster wants Disney to replace their lost home and then they'll applaud them.
I do not believe Disney is required to do anything. As I said prior, its great that these families are having a nice christmas. Yes, its a win-win for both Disney and the affected families. My only point has been that Disney did this far more or the PR value, not because they have a bleeding heart.

Whomever green lit this idea, was not doing so from a position of concern for the families. They saw a tragedy and realized they could benefit from it. I dont blame them. If I was a Disney exec, I would green light it as well. You and others continue to believe that I am somehow upset with Disney and criticizing them for it. You continue to post from an emotional position. I am just highlighting the actual reasons for this "generosity" being offered by TWDC. Im happy for the families, and I applaud Disney for another shrewd business maneuver that dupes the snowflakes into thinking they care.

So you were there when the decision was made? Kudos to you for knowing exactly how it went down. Your point?

I really can't believe you see it that way. Wow to you.

Every post you make on this makes you come off worse than the one before it. Stop.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Disney used this tragedy to gain some positive press out of it. This was not done as a gesture of kindness. If the end result allows the children and their families to have a better Christmas, thats wonderful. But dont fool yourself and think that whomever approved this did so out of love and kindness. They saw a tragedy and used it to their advantage.
And you know this how?

Geesh, some people.

I guess you probably think Mother Theresa spent her life helping others for the positive publicity as well. Nice job.

Yes she did. She let others suffer for the political power and money. I'd suggest you take a look at Christopher Hitchens book on the subject for a different outlook on her than what the propaganda machine showed.

Back to the subject at hand, very nice gesture from Disney and from what I see, beside the mention from the Representative, Disney did it quietly. Great job Disney!

FL Congressman Darren Soto is the one that reached out to Disney and worked the deal with them for these families. All of the local media covered this at Soto's request. As far as I know, Disney has not released a statement of any kind regarding what they are doing.

This gesture will mean the world to those kids. I bet, even though they live 6 miles from WDW, most have never been. These aren't families that can drop $400-$600 for a day of fun. I really have a hard time finding anything but caring in Disney's gesture.

Disney also donates food 3 times a week to the Osceola Center on Aging. Which, oddly enough, is directly across the street from the burned hotel.

I have spent the last 3 days in Kissimmee.

This I agree with. You have to look at it from a practical prospective. Disney is a corporation not a charity. The corporation exists for the benefit of its shareholders. Most corporations have a limited ability to donate to charity. It's not like management has a blank check to just give away money. If you can justify some economic benefit to donating to charity it makes it easier to justify donating more. Both the corporation and the charity benefit. Part of the economic benefit is the good publicity received so when corporations toot their own horns about the good deeds they are doing it benefits the charities as much as the corporation. We all win.

The reason so much relief is being sought for these families is because they were not vacationers. These families were using the motel as a residence.
Oh wow...I didn't know that. Terrible tragedy regardless for these families.

But do we need to hammer this home? I think we're all aware about what's being said. There's one poster who wants to keep going on about it.

Can we just close this thread? The fighting and attitude is disgusting related to this great story, such good came from bad and some people can't stop bickering.

Merry Christmas.

I blame Disney, how dare they give these people free hotel rooms causing folk to argue on here on Christmas day of all days.

2016 has been a bad year for fires. :( Heck, 2016 has just been a bad year period.

Very nice gesture by Disney to help those left impacted by this.

I think it's a stand up thing Disney did here.

But when a company operates the way it has over the past year or so, grabbing for more cash like they are in crisis mode, people are going to be skeptical when you do something generous.

It's part of what you reap when you sow what Disney has been sowing lately.

I think you missed my point. I agree that this was a generous and kind gesture by TWDC. I just don't see why it's such a bad thing for a corporation to publicize its good deeds. Whether the information came from Disney directly or through another source doesn't matter. Disney should let people know what good things it is doing. If it's somehow good for business for them too what's the harm. Everybody wins.

CM"s chose to work for minimum wage. Those people did not start the fire so they could get free Disney housing. Use your heads for something other then a hat rack.
OOH aren't you clever! Head for a hat rack...Awesome.
Did I say that the fire was intentionally set by CM's? I think not. Perhaps you're the one with comprehension difficulties.o_O
