Don't look for The Lone Ranger in Frontierland.

Think all with box office numbers one would think that "film critics" would wait at least a month to see how its performed before crying the words "bomb", however saying all that Lone Ranger is a terribly boring film. Especially as this was the creative team that gave us Pirates - I was expecting less talky talky and more TNT and explosions.

Well...if it was released at a different time, it would have more legs. Opening weekend is really all that matters during the summer movie rollout.

This week you have Pacific Rim (which looks just plain bad (although Guillermo Del Toro being involved has me intrigued). Between this getting the teenage crowd and Grown Ups 2 going after the comedic audience (as well as Despicable Me for the families), it'll be tough for Lone Ranger to make anything substantial.

It's funny because most of the criticism the film is getting is because there was too much action.

I personally thought they had a nice balance, they just needed to introduce more "wild west" elements.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
They already have a Tonto M&G ready to go. Something tells me he won't ever make it out, though...

I preferred the original version I had been told about, the version that was cancelled when the film was originally cancelled. Which had a better explanation of the silver bullets, the spirit walking and the reason how Toto met the Lone Ranger... But far too much talking and not enough action until like the last 30 minutes, which whilst that section was good. It was not enough within a nearly 3 hour film though.

I do agree the last 30 minutes was epic.

Weren't there like werewolves or something in the cancelled version? I thought I saw that somewhere.

The way I heard it ... yes. Including a better explanation of what Tonto was and a better explanation of why Lone Ranger was a Spirit Walker and why that was impressive, oh and making the whole silver bullets thing make a lot more sense.

They could put the Lone Ranger show they were testing to do on the rooftops of Frontierland.

If LR were to ever be integrated into the parks, this would be my first choice. It would bring in live entertainment to a corner of the park that could really use some, be relevant to the land's theme and not cost $500 million to implement or ruin any existing attraction.

Plus those rooftop gunfight shows are loads of fun. I seem to recall they had that at one point in Frontierland?

Or...maybe I'm thinking of Dollywood or some other theme park...but I know I've seen them done before. Loved them as a kid.

Another place where LR could fit, I think, is on the riverboat ride (which has gotten much more sparse over the years)...a simple statue with basic animetronics or something would work well there as you cruise past on the steamboat, I think.
