dolphin hotel

We stayed 2 nights right after Thanksgiving. They didn't do as much decorating of the resort this year as they did in 2012. The room we were given had a view of the roof top but it was really close to the elevator so I didn't want to move. It also felt....I dunno dated or worn, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable and we had plenty of storage space.
We ate at Fresh Med twice while we there and really liked the breakfast and the lunch.
Bus service was pretty good to the parks as was the boat service.
I actually had better WiFi connectivity at BW and WL than I did at Dolphin, it kept dropping me and I would have to log back on and while we were on Disney property the I stayed logged on.
We went and lounged around the pool area too for a couple of hours and had a snack and a drink. Kids played ping pong, was too chilly to swim..we all wished it wasn't.
Daughter used the work out room and really liked it.
It had good things and not so good things compared to the other EPCOT resort we had stayed earlier in the week.

I've stayed there once a year since 2008. Most recently last week of sept 2013. Love it.
In process of making video trip report. You can see a lot of the resort throughout my videos. The most recent one (day 7) features the waterfall cove pool and Cabana Bar.

Can you get Disney Express service from the airport to the Swan and Dolphin yet?
Not as of November, but my daughter had a later flight out than I did and she was able to book it at the front desk for like $35 dollars with that same outfit that Disney has a contract with...I forget their name.

Mears. Swan and Dolphin are not eligible for DME.
Bingo on both counts. Also FYI if the OP or any other readers wind up driving or getting a rental car, the parking lots for both the Swan and the Dolphin are not free. According to allears.net the current cost is $15/day to self-park, and $23/day for valet services. I guess that also means, unless you have an annual pass, you would have to pay if you opted to drive to any of the parks.

Also, there is a $20/day resort amenities charge that is mandatory and covers:

  • In room High-Speed Internet Access
  • Unlimited local calls and DOMESTIC (US mainland) are now included.
  • Unlimited access to the Resort's health club facilities
  • 2 bottles of WDW Swan and Dolphin Resort water daily (provided in the room)

Also, charging privileges only extend to the swan and Dolphin; you can not charge things you buy in he parks or anywhere else on property to your room. I don't know if that extends to the new My Disney Experience wristbands, but I assume Swan and Dolphin guests don't get them, I'm sure someone will let me know if I'm wrong.

I don't think you get the bands at the Dolphin/Swan. There is also tax on the self parking and it is similar to the self park you find at the other EPCOT resorts, kind of a hike. The savings of staying at those resorts ends up being along the lines of a discounted AKL is what I've found once all their fees are added into the room rate unless you stay during a slow season then it is close to a moderate Disney rate...

We stay at the Dolphin almost everytime and it's amazing...they just put fresh paint everywhere so the place looks great. Love the beds and the restaurant options at the dolphin and the value can't be beaten great location at a fair(er) price

I'm not 100% sure about the wristbands, but I've heard that they go with your park passes and not the resort you stay at... I could definitely be wrong though... I will be there this summer so I need to find out about that, too :)
