Heh. I like the tiny little engine they've got on the front of the thing.
This way it looks like a "real train" but the front seats should still have a mostly unobstructed view.

Indeed, I still do not understand why they could have not installed some kind of water resistant brakes. Without the splashdown it's just.... odd. They probably don't have any plans on returning the splashdown though, they have completely removed all of the water cannons and other equipment in the splashdown room. They were still in place last year, but when I got evacuated off the ride last weekend I got to see the splashdown room, and no equipment, nothing, dry as a bone!

Bumping this up with a video trip report from Smoky Mountain Christmas festival at Dollywood this past year. Most of this video I shot on 12/23/13 just before Christmas, but a few pieces were thrown in from when I visited this past Monday on 12/30/13. As you'll see, the lights & decorations were outstanding as always. A Christmas Carol was a great addition to the show lineup, and hopefully will return in 2014. Definitely my favorite time of year to just walk around the park & soak it all in. (Not to mention ride Wild Eagle in cold temperatures creating a freezing-of-the-teeth sensation.)

Last but not least, here is yet one more video from this season's Smoky Mountain Christmas festival. This focuses solely on the beautiful miniature railroad display which is featured in the Wings Of America theater during Nov/Dec. I didn't include any of the miniature railroad in my other Smoky Mtn Christmas video because this display is just too cool, and needed it's own video. Being a bit of a model railroad nut myself, I certainly hope Dollywood keeps this tradition alive & brings back a new display every Christmas.
