Dole Whips in Ohio?

After a long visit to H&R block last night I decided I needed a pick me up. I made my husband drive me down the street to the local Hershey's Ice Cream shop so I could have a milkshake.

As we were walking in the door I noticed their markerboard said "Now serving Dole".

Now I know it is practically a crime around here, but I have never had a Dole Whip before. Throughout my trip planning I heard all of you singing their praises a lot but once we got down there I forgot to try one.

There were no signs in the shop mentioning Dole products at all (other than the marker board) so I asked the employee about it while paying for our milkshakes. She had never heard the term "Dole Whip" before but once I described what it was she said yes, that was what they were now serving.

They started out with pineapple flavored but were going to experiment with different flavors (rasberry, banana, strawberry) to see what customers like best once the drive motor in their machine got fixed.

I don't know for sure that it was actually real, Disney style Dole Whips but wanted to let everyone know to be on the lookout for them.

This shop was in Perrysburg, Ohio on South Boundary. The closest main cross-road is Louisana.

I would love to make some at home but what type of machine would it take?

A soft serve machine like this one... http://www.cuisinart.com/catalog/product.php?product_id=434&item_id=529&cat_id=10

I almost bought one last summer when the store my daughter was working in put them on clearance. I should have. :brick::brick:

I have this one - http://www.cuisinart.com/catalog/product.php?product_id=45&item_id=82&cat_id=10
and thats what I used to make the Dole Whip listed in our recipe thread. It turned out ok, but a soft serve machine would have been better.

I purchased that soft serve machine shortly after Dole Whip became available. It was well worth the investment. I think I might have to break it out tonight.

Hey Everybody! Dole whips at my place tonight!

The more I think about it the more I want that machine. I hope Lil'Mermaid keeps the job when she gets home from school so I can use her discount. :lookaroun

I was not able to find it anywhere on line or in stores for less than $99 so if you can get a good discount I would take it. We still ordered it on line because of free shipping free shipping so we saved the $7 sales tax but that was it.

We have yet to use it for anything but dole whip. The wife and I have talked about using some of the recipes that come with it but it is hard to break away from dole whips pineappley perfection.

I buy the mix from the same place and have the ice cream maker you have (not the soft serve) and have never had a problem. Tastes just the same.

What time is the party?

I wouldn't mind paying 100 dollars for a machine that I could make Dole Whips with. Summer is almost here, the pool will be open soon and a dole whip by the pool sounds like heaven to me right now. :slurp:

I could have gotten it for $50 in November - that was combining a sale and my daughter's employee discount. I can't believe I was stupid enough to pass it up! :brick::brick::brick:
