Does the sword ever come out of the stone?

I was indeed "Temporary Ruler of the Relm" at one visit and I have the medal and certificate (which features Mr. Toad and Cyril on it!) to prove it.

I think Disneyland Paris also does the show too but I'm not sure.

I thought the show was "replaced" by Let's Have a Ball for YOMD, but it ended it's run early and now no show happens in that area besides occasional music groups playing. Really sad to see yet another great MK element disappear.

Well now I'm all curious... what else does a "DreamMaker" do? Sounds like a super fun job, especially operating the sword covertly.

I ran into a "dreammaker" over in EPCOT. He took my kids and I onto Test Track by skipping the line.

We had a pretty long coversation with him.

He said for the first part of the day, he did the "offical" prizes. Once they were all done, his job was to walk around and make people happy at random.

I asked him what exactly does that mean, and he said that it was pretty much up to him, and that he had a lot of leeway with what he could do.

When we got on test track, he just walked up to the CM and said "they are with me" and we all just walked down the FP line.

He said the application process for the job was quite difficult.

saw it performed nov. 08. Didn't seem like a big to-do though. The dad couldn't pull the sword out and then his kid did.

That job is right up my alley. I try to do that at my job now.

That was not his "real" job.

He was a luggage porter over at BC.

He had to interview to get temp assigned as a dream maker. He said he had to go back to bell services after a certain time period or else he would loose his seniority. Although he would have like to stay on the deam squad for much longer.

I think you're referring to Dream Squad, who actually handed out the prizes. In my post, the Dream Maker position was a FLand Ops position, which is why they were still in the FLand costumes. All the position was was to create magical moments for guests. I'm pretty sure they had this for each land at MK and probably at the other parks too.

I saw a kid do it in Sept 08. I think I was more excited about it than he was since I had never seen the sword move before.
But other than me cheering for the kid nothing else happened. I don't think his parent's even took a picture-LOL

Yep, he was Dream Squad. But according to him, he had about 2 or 3 hours of "planned" Dream Squad prizes to hand out, and then after that he wss free to wander and "spread magic" as he saw fit.

This is one aspect of YoaMD that I liked. There were a lot of people making Magical Moments. The Celebration itself, ehhh...

was he by any chance a black guy, named alton i think?? that guy was awesome! I remember him tossing a stitch football around with the kids, which i'm guessing was the "second" part of his shift.

Nope, thats not him

I forget his name, but I know I took a picture of him with his name tag clearly visable. I did send an email to WDW about how great he was.

At one time they did a show around the sword and a kid would be chosen to pull the sword from the stone. That show went the way of the dinosaur several years ago and the sword has remained in place ever since.

The only place you can get to do something similar to this....Ollivanders.....But, with wands...

I kind of cheated on that a bit for my Grandson. I knew how it worked so as we were approaching the sword, just as we got along side the "control" I said to my Grandson... Boy, you don't stand a chance, I'm much stronger and bigger so I am going to get it to come out and you won't be able too. The "control" took the bait and when I tried to pull it out, of course, it wouldn't budge, then it was his turn and after a couple of tugs, out it came. I never told him how it happened and I never will, but, man was that ever cool at the time. Sometimes you get to make your own magic.

My son was able to get it 70% out last October. Somebody was controlling it someplace.

I saw them do this at WDW this past December. Not sure if the sword was pulled up/removed but I imagine it was. Cast members were dressed like renaissance players and they did a whole act and it was very amusing.
