Does it bother you, not arriving at the TTC?

I used to love riding the Monorail to the MK, but the past few years its been an absolute nightmare...between having to wait anywhere from 15-30 minutes just for a Monorail, to being stuck twice on the Monorail for over 30 minutes(happened to me at Disneyland too!), to Monorail being down and everyone having to either take the ferry or a bus.

It worked years ago, but with as many people as there are visiting the park and the age of the fleet of trains and all their maintenance issues....it's no longer the fun experience it once was for me.

I never liked the TTC and taking the ferry or the monorail. I can see why some do but I would rather check into my hotel, hop on the monorail (when we stay at the Poly or Contemporary) and off we go! Even when we stay at another hotel we take the bus to the front. But each to his/her own.

So has the procedure changed over the years?

There have always been bus loops at MK, right?
I know they were building an extra loop there back last year, did anything change then?

I will let someone who absolutely know correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think they always went directly to MK. I believe that once they added significantly more hotels they had to change that to avoid overload at TTC. I never stayed on-site in the early years, so I am not absolutely sure about this, but, I don't recall any at MK until later.

I know when we stayed at the now defunct Lake Buena Vista Village (where SSR is now) in 1979, the bus dropped us off at the TTC -- we had to take the monorail or ferry to get to MK. Of course at that time, that was the only park and there were only a few on-property resorts.

Exactly. Originally there were no Disney resorts which needed buses to the MK. When the MK opened there was only the CR and the Poly and both had the Monorail. Yes I know, it sounds unbelievable today, but that was about it, TWO resorts and you had to book AT LEAST one or more year in advance to reserve a room there. Of course there were no buses necessary and it didn't change before they built the Golf Resort/Disney Inn/Shades of Green in 1973. And there was no direct bus transport from this one as well, the buses went to the TTC. I don't think there was any direct drop-off at the MK before they vastly expanded the number of resorts in the late 1980ies, early 1990ies.

That's why they have that awesome fanfare music on the bus when it enters the MK bus loop.

First allow me to say the TTC is done at least once by the DWF and I. However we do this when going from EPCOT to the TTC and then take the boat over to the MK. As a resort guest I love getting dropped off at the gate. I truly see how this can be a special way of knowing your in WDW and the excitement mounting. It's like that for me driving through the Welcome to WDW arch the first time.

Think for yourselfer
Sure, but to me, Seven Seas Lagoon area IS the park I'm visiting. I'm already in my own magic kingdom. :geek:

The ride with the ferryboat is only marginally less exciting to me than the ride on the Rivers of America aboard the Liberty Belle, the monorail loop only slightly less relaxing than the PeopleMover. I no more need to rush to the MK than I need to rush through Main Street to get to the attractions - MS is the attraction for me.

You are hopeless. You know that?

by the way, I agree with everything you are saying.

I much prefer going through the TTC- theres something about the build up and arrives at the gates from a distance.

We are doing buses this trip, so I'll be slightly disappointed :(
