Does anyone take a night off from Parks and chill at resort

Using an entire day just to sit at the resort would be wasting the money spent on those park tickets

If you plan on spending your off day "just sitting at the resort", I'll agree that you're much better off heading to parks every day.

Fortunately in my 24 years of visiting WDW, I've been creative enough to avoid any " just sitting" days.
The pools, restaurants, lounges, and beautiful grounds have kept me very content.

I also don't buy park tickets for those days.

That's pretty much what "just sitting" would entail, at least as far as what I'm referring to. So when you buy park tickets, you leave out a number of days you plan to just stay around and enjoy the resort?

Sure, I hate to waste admissions.
On my next 12 night trip, I'll buy a 5 day ticket with H20 parks & more.
5 park days
3 water park days
+ a couple mini-golf games mixed in

We usually plan on going to TL on a Wednesday, then relax in our room for the evening, watch a movie or something. It's a nice break.

Well I always stay in an on-property resort and still find that to be true. Especially is it a bit of a waste if you have paid for park tickets for the entire length of the stay. Using an entire day just to sit at the resort would be wasting the money spent on those park tickets, which would be foolish to me. But I guess if you can afford to do that, and it makes your trip more enjoyable, then go for it.

I am going to be there 15 days so one night off isn't going to loose anything

how the heck is it a waste to enjoy the resort you're paying so much money for? nobody is staying in the room watching TV. eat at the restaurant, maybe go downtown, take in a show, rent the mini boats or the parasailing thing they have. there are lots of activities people completely pass up.

if anything i find it wasteful to spend so much on a nice resort and then do nothing at it. you might as well stay off-site if you aren't going to take advantage of all the amenities you're paying for. and obviously you wouldn't buy a park pass for the day off

I think spending some downtime at the resort can be calming to those that tend to get stressed-out... it also provides an opportunity to pepper the staff and other guests with lots of questions about the varied aspects of the resorts....

We do. We stay at SSR. We usually take the nights off. We will eat dinner at the park and then head for the resort. We go swimming and watch the movie they play every night (weather permitting). Great way to wind down from a busy/ early day at the parks. We've also walked to DTD, excuse me now the springs. Get an ice cream and walk back. Aahhhh can't wait to get there. 215 days.

I don't see anything wrong at all with doing that. But I don't think I could take an entire day to just sit and look at the lobby or viewing areas. I've stayed at WL many times, and have been able to do those things AFTER spending most of the day in the parks (which happen to close earlier than I'd like at the times we visit). So there's really a way to do both......spend time in the parks, and explore/enjoy the resort and what it has to offer.

that's fine. i dunno different strokes i guess. let's use WL for an example though and consider. let's say it's the third or fourth day of a 6-7 day trip
1. SLEEP IN. for once. your body will thank you
2. take the boat over to fort wilderness for a buffet breakfast
3. take boat back, change, hit the pool, have a couple drinks at that poolside bar they have (age depending of course)
4. have late lunch at whispering canyon
5. rent the mini-boats, cruise around lake for a while, zip over past the kingdom for some awesome pictures
6. have dinner at Artist point. make sure you order whatever the buffalo-centered dinner selection is. when i went it was "buffalo buffalo buffalo!" excellent.
7. go downtown for margarita at paradiso and some shopping. check out whatever band is playing at the irish pub place, or at house of blues.

i mean that's a vacation day right there. you're boating, you're swimming, you're shopping, and certainly eating.

We always spend the last day (before boarding the DME to MCO) at the resort or DTD.

The first night and full days are always spent in one of the parks, and usually DTD the evening after doing AK.

That is one helluva day right there. My kind of speed. I think we will be renting one of those family sized bikes at WL and biking around for a while. The kids are a little too small for the Searaycers just yet. Resting mid week after crushing the parks for two days is an absolute must, especially with two small children. Sleep, sleep and more sleep is good. A mid-day nap is awesome and very refreshing. Hit the park that night, you will feel much better.

When wego in August we usually take an afternoon break depending on park hours. It's great we come back the kid hits the pool, I hit the Gurgling Suitcase. After unwinding and cooling off it's then usually time to head out to a park/resort for dinner. Once done with that we close the park. We use to be park commandos but this works really well and we then have no problem staying those late nights when the parks stay open later

On all of our trips, we've always hit the parks from open 'til close--"you can sleep at home!" was out motto. On this last trip, however, we found ourselves back at the resort a bit early on our next-to-last day. It was unusually chilly outside (they were selling snuggies in DHS), my family was exhausted, and I think I was developing a cold. So after catching a few Citizens of Hollywood sets, we went back to the resort and crashed (at least I did) for a few hours.

I dunno...maybe we pushed ourselves too hard, or maybe it's that we're getting older. But we may need to start planning some downtime in the middle of our future trips so we are rested enough to enjoy the time in the parks more.

I was wondering if in the middle of vacation anyone takes a night out from the parks to chill at the resort, maybe eat at the resort then go for a walk or relax in room? Some of the resorts look so amazing and wondered if anyone chooses to do this?

What means this word "chill" in the context of a Disney vacation?!;)

Yes every trip in fact! We will plan a day where we sit poolside during the day, have a leisurely lunch and then eventually get ready for dinner and wandering around the Boardwalk area, DTD, and or other Resorts. This is also the time we set aside for some adult geared party time (bar hopping or going to a club).
