does anyone ride the astro orbitor?

I have only done it once mostly because of the long wait but that thing does go high, at some crazy levels! My son was about 14 or 15 and he rode with his little sister while I rode with Hubby. He cranked it way up, but apparently their belt around both came loose and it didn’t take him long to lower it back down. I didn’t know of course until we got off the ride. It is funny now because you could not pay him enough money to get back on it. He says it is the scariest ride at all of WDW. Even at 23 he refuses to do it. (It scared the crap out of me when he told me, but now we always laugh and say come on, let’s go ride the Astro Orbiter, and crack up when he gives us the evil eye.)

I have a giant confession to make.. I have never.. ever ridden the Astro orbitor.. I even looked at it last week while I was there.. but I have never done that ride.. ( nor have i ever visited Tom Sawyer's Island.. ).. I am sinful.. I confess .. but does any one here ever ride the orbitor.. I have never heard it mentioned..

I've only ever ridden it once & I did not like it. Maybe it's because I'm of small stature, but I felt that the rocket was at an angle & I kept sliding to my left the entire ride - definitely not a good feeling o_O
I personally don't feel like I miss out on much when I skip Astro Orbiter, Aladdin, or Dumbo. But since this version of the same ride concept is located at a higher altitude, try it one night when all of the pretty lights are on at Magic Kingdom :)

Not done the Astro Orbiter. The lines look too long every time, which is a perfect excuse for someone scared of heights!

I still love Dumbo. On our first family trip, our youngest was 6 and all he wanted to do was ride Dumbo. That was back when it was outside. We must have queued 5 or 6 times in one day alone. And we still do it.

TSI is one of my favourite places in WDW. When the boys were young I loved the fact they could let off steam and get away from the over stimulation of MK, whilst I could explore knowing they couldn't get lost .... well apart from the time I missed the little one sitting in a fort turret, and went right round the island again! I still go over and explore just like I did with them on the first trip.

It is a great place for pictures if you can time it right to get the castle in the background.

Tom Sawyer’s is a great place for hide and seek. Give everybody a radio and go.

I rode it only once...realized how tall it was and couldn't move the stick to go higher. LOL

The Astro Orbiter is really a hidden gem. Unless you have ridden it before you really would be amazed how high you are and how far you can see when your orbitor is all the way up especially at night.. check it out next time and you won't be sorry you did

Ride it once or twice a trip, the best spinner on property. It’s fast, thrilling, best views and then the g force really hits and make you feel like your gonna fly out which is my favourite part. Everyone should try it at least once.

I've ridden it twice. The first time was early in the morning, and the other was at the end of the night, so neither time was the wait longer than 5-10 minutes.

I rode it with my little girl the first time, and she didn't like it when I took the rocket up really high, so we rode around at the bottom for the majority of the ride. The rocket sits flat when riding low, so the centrifugal force made it feel like we were going to fly out of the rocket. We didn't like that, but I noticed that the rockets that were up high leaned in towards the center.

The second time I rode it was by myself, so I took the rocket all the way up. When it leans to the center, it helps with the centrifugal force, and didn't make me feel like I was going to fly out. It was a lot more enjoyable.

I definitely want to ride it again at night.

I have ridden Astro Orbiter a few times. It is a really simple ride and you control if you are going up or down.
I don't know why, but I never feel great coming off of this ride. I don't know if I am scared or that it just makes
me a little nauseous. :hungover:

I have never ridden this ride as well.

Question for those who have, is there a line upstairs once you get off the elevator? Or once you get up there, you are pretty much on the next ride cycle?

But to confuse matters, we love Tom Sawyer Island. We feel bad if we miss it.

Rather than standing around on line for 30 minutes, the kids get to run around like maniacs. It's great fun. The barrel bridge is awesome. And Injun Joe's caves are great for spooking the little people - all dark and scary. And then they just get up on the battlements at the fort and run back and forth pretending to shoot each other until they're exhausted. Good times...
Omg you let them shot each other. Sarcasm.
More kids should do what yours do

Only ridden once that I can think of possibly twice. It is soooo high up and used to go around one time too many, making me almost nauseous or dizzy. Very hard to get on and out of. I almost forget it is up there! Love the People Mover. That one is a must!!!

Astro Orbitor, not in a long time, last year attempted but the line was to long, went on people mover instead. Tom Sawyers Island, what are you waiting for ? haven't been on it in years but do like it very much.
