EDIT: Not again. Twice in a week I have accidentally replied to an old thread that was brought back from out of nowhere.

I can't stand Mission Space (I get motion sickness, so it's a no go for me, even on the basic version, made that mistake once). While I was never on Horizons (not sure why, it was there for at least an early trip or two that I went on, probably just overwhelmed by how much was there) I have extensively read about it and can say it sounds like it is something I'd want to be in the park now (the theme and the way it was designed). Plus, being a normal ride instead of a thrill ride, it's far more my speed. I'll have to check out a ride through of it on YouTube, I'm sure somebody has uploaded some old footage.

I don't remember Horizons at all but I am no big fan of Mission Space. I think a lot of people skip the ride. I've seen lines 10 mins or shorter for the ride during peak times of the year. I would have been happier with a roller coaster, if they had the space there to build one.

I just hate that people who LOVE past stuff like the 90s kids make anything NEW LOOK HORRIBLE COMPARED to what was before.

MISSION: Space can't compare to Horizons.

Horizons: a creative, capitivating, engaging, fantastic dark ride that took us through the visions of the future, based on how we interact with land, sea, energy, innovation, transportation, communication, imagination, and ecosystems/nutrition. Probably the most detailed and researched theme park attraction ever built.

MISSION: Space: an uncomfortable simulator where you are locked in a tiny capsule, in an uncomfortable restraint, with no room to move. Then the simulator begins...the g-forces are painful and can cause you to be dizzy and disoriented for the rest of the day (as it did to me) or worse.

Mission: Space is the only ride to ever make me pray for death afterwards, and I'm not one to shy away from thrill rides. It gave me one of those migraine-esque headaches that only goes away after sleeping it off, and the rest of my family (There were 9 of us that year) all had similar experiences. There's something so profoundly Un-Disney about it; There's no need for you to re-ride it-you experience everything there is to experience in one go. The queue is well-themed, and I really like the exterior design of the building. (The metallic red is very striking) That's the most good I can say about it.

I only rode Horizons twice in my life, the summer before it closed for good-but it really made an impact on me. It was so intriguing and charming-well themed and entertaining, basically what I feel epitomizes that "Epcot" feeling that is so sorely lacking today. There's no real comparison here, unfortunately. And I feel like Disney knows this-their blog teases us once or twice a year with everything from images of the Robot Butler to full-on write ups on the subject.

I wish that they made a dark ride themed to space travel-something that anyone can ride and enjoy, rather than a simulator that has been divisive among guests at best-or maybe just refurbished it and let it shine on its own.

I don't think I particularly would care for either of the two. Granted, I never got to experience Horizons in person.. But judging by videos on Epcot, I probably would have been pretty bored regardless. Don't attack me, it's just my opinion. I feel like it would have been the same experience for me if I rode the original Universe of Energy, or The Living Seas attraction...

However, even though I chose Mission: Space over Horizons... I still don't like it. Like. At all. I don't like it to the point that I don't even want to explain why I don't like it.

Bulldoze this too. Lets put some sort of Timekeeper-Style attraction here!

Eh - Horizons was decent, but really any different that Spaceship Earth? Mission Space has it's flaws, but atleast it is a different experience.
I kind of agree. I do feel like it shares a lot of similarities with Spaceship Earth. I was explaining this thread to my parents, and they were pretty sure I meant Spaceship Earth and not Horizons. It was actually kind of an amusing conversation.
Maybe it's just me and my family, but we don't particularly remember anything that made Horizons a great attraction. I looked at pictures and watched old videos to see if I'm just forgetting something, but I'm still not seeing it. Sorry. :(

Energy, you make the world go round!
I think Epcot NEEDS it's dark rides, and needs to make more *cough wonders of life pavilion cough*. But I do enjoy Mission:Space, The story and cgi need an upgrade, but the feeling of lift off is amazing.

There should be a balance of thrill and dark rides.
