I never got a chance to go on Horizons, but I'm sure I would have liked it much better than Mission Space. I only rode it once, i rode the green, less intense version, but I was still sick for the rest of the day. I only went on it because my husband was begging to try it, even with my motion sickness pills AND my motion sickness patch I felt sick. :depressed:

I really like Mission Space and love how it really makes me feel the sensation of speed. I just have to block out the whole Spinning centrifuge aspect way that it actually achieves this so as not have the Teacup inducing feeling sick to my stomach aspect.

I you are younger you may not even remember Horizons.
Said it before I loved Horizons, it was a show.
Can not remember how long it was but it must of been a good 15 minute attraction.

Mission Space, you have what a 5 minute max attraction?
It is not so much a show, sit down for a fake simulation to Mars. With politics of the day humans will never visit Mars.

Mission Space is a $100 million dollar disappointment. And now the graphics/animation are outdated. It's also one of the few rides in Orlando with so much potential for sickness but so little thrill. I skip it everytime I go.

Interesting perspectives, I too wish Horizons would never have closed but I wonder if would have become the Epcot Carousel of Progress? I love the Carousel of Progress..It's a great beautiful tomorrow.....song is now stuck in my head...that being said...I happen to enjoy Mission Space..I find it a unique ride and quite entertaining..I can see how it could nauseate folks...hence the 2 seperate experience's and maybe it the Parachutist mentality of mine..I love the sensations of space travel portrayed...I wonder if folks would feel different if BOTH attractions were open and Horizons would have never closed...would people then appreciate Mission Space more?

I have only every been on Mission space 2x. I like the ride but I can get motion sickness from it so I don't ride it very often. But if you compare the two Horizons wins because you want to be able to walk through the environment you are seeing in front of you. Granted todays youth would be bored with it but it was such a fantastic ride.

I think the pavilion for Mission:Space is pretty, nice music. Nice at night. But I loved me some Horizons.

I think on a WDW fans site, most of us are going to be inclined to say Horizons. We like stuff general people visiting don't (see: Journey Into Imagination) I think average theme park guests want "thrills" and Mission:Space is closer to that than Horizons was.

To me it's just a long wait to have a headache for an hour after and have to listen to Gary Sinise for 10 minutes :) But my husband adores space travel so does my dad, so we can't skip it.

I picked Horizons, I loved it then and love it now. I still like listening to it on my ipod. I just don't know if really would have held up with today's audience though. Epcot does need to have some thrill rides and Mission Space provides that for the younger kids, someday that attraction will probably be replaced as well.

Horizons was inspirational, highly detailed and beautiful. It was always one of my favorite rides at EPCOT. I was even fortunate enough to visit the VIP lounge on most visits and view the live shots from the EPCOT cameras mounted on the roof on the big screens. (My dad was a GE Lighting dealer)
Mission Space was an innovative ride but fails to inspire me or my sons. It feels more like an immersive video game.

I couldn't vote. I cannot compare one with the other. They are two different experiences totally. I like them both equally but for different reasons. I lost count of how many times I rode Horizons and I'm getting near the same with Mission: Space. I think that Horizons was a very creative and imaginative dark ride that had it's share of boring and it's share of fascinating. MS is just an amazing experience and one that is unique to Walt Disney World. It isn't a thrill in the sense that you are afraid for your life (unless you were one of the brave riders in the early years) but is fun and interactive to whatever degree it is. Since the entire premise of a theme park is suspension of disbelief, then it shouldn't be a problem to understand that it is going to end the same way no matter what we push or don't push, but, pushing them make you feel like you are actually part of the ride and not just along for the ride.:geek:

I voted for Mission Space but I loved Horizons whilst it was around. I am fortunate that I don't get motion sickness but I can certainly see how that is an issue on MS. As others have said the two are so different comparing them is not really possible. It is somewhat ironic that so many people get upset when a ride that is inspired by the ever changing future gets razed and replaced by the future. I do wish they would give Mission Space the multiple experiences treatment as they have with Tower of Terror and Temple of Doom to name just two. Unlike so many on this site that apparently believe every attraction should be commissioned and from that day forward should never be changed, adjusted, tweaked, or replaced I appreciate the fact the they occasionally update, change, and replace things. Of course there are massive failures like JII but on the whole I think they do well (I know it is heresy on this site but I liked the transition from WOM to TT).

I wish it didn't have to be the either/or situation that actually happened. Because the attractions couldn't be more different all of the Mission: Space vs. Horizons debates are completely apples to oranges. If only there had been a way to keep Horizons and add Mission: Space somewhere else. Epcot would be a better place with both of them because they appeal to very different kinds of people.

There's another example that cannot be compared to each other. Two completely different experiences. I loved WoM, but, it ran it's life and needed to be replaced. If for no other reason then to give all of us something to be upset about. :arghh::angelic::arghh::angelic:
