The only thing I can say about the refurb is that I am not happy about the timeline. I somewhat planned my vaca to be there for when it opened and 3 weeks before I leave it is moved out 3 months. Now I can't move my vaca.:fork:

As for the narration and the ride itself I cannot comment on something I haven't heard or seen.

I guess I will miss the Irons narration too. It was kind of, ummm Ironic.
:dazzle::)

But, who is to say the new narration won't be better? I actually have
felt the best was Vic Perrin, second best was Walter Cronkite.
But I think we should give Disney a chance here. Why be mad about
something we haven't even seen/heard yet?

Yeah, same here! I arrive on Nov 11, just in time for the... end of the F&W Fest. Hmmm... Oh well, so much for best made plans.

Not really, its not like Irons was the only narrator its ever had. He's in fact the third. I think as long as they get someone great, like Patrick Stewart, then it'll be fine. Just get another strong voice and it'll be great.

Do you have confirmation that the line has been removed? I havnt seen any info that confirms that.

Dont be upset until you see the final product would be my advice. :)

From someone who grew up with the Cronkite version, and also liked the Irons audio, you`ll learn to accept it :wave:

Sure I'll miss the old version, but I'm really excited to see what they're doing with the place. Change is good.

While I disagree with your blanket "change is good" statement to some degree (think Journey Into Your Imagination or Under New Management), I am looking forward to the new Spaceship Earth. A part of me I suppose is scared they might dumb it up like they've done with much of the rest of Epcot, but all of the information and rumors I've read so far leads me to think it will be something for Disney to be proud of. Yes, I'll miss Jeremy Irons' soothing narration, the beautiful music score, and the old descent scenes, but there's always video. Of course, if it ends up being terrible, I'll be wishing for the old one back again...

I'm positively going to stick with my "Don't knock it 'till you try it" mantra with this ride.

Personally, I'm just jazzed to think how farther they can take it from the original. If they could take that extra step, then man am I excited to see it.

Because I have the utmost respect for Bruce Broughton's keen compositional regard, and because I do feel that Irons can indeed be topped, the only frightening aspect is the "new story overlay" said to be added to the attraction. For example, DINOSAUR at DAK has a hackneyed storyline about going back in time (similar to SE) and retrieving a creature. The new Nemo attraction in the former Living Seas similarly has a storyline which in some respects diverts attention away from the natural storyline of the real sea itself to a cartoon storyline lifted directly from the plot of a cartoon film. SE needs narration, and it needs dramatic show scenes, and it needs a 'cinemagic' score, but it doesn't need a story overlay which usurps the power of being the "main character"—and experiencing the attraction from that perspective—from the guests and diverts it to a character who is projected onto the little screens inside the Omnimovers and acts as our surrogates, as if our presence aboard the time machines were not really necessary and we were merely observers rather than participants.
