Does anyone else feel...

...like there is no one else they can talk to (in person, not on the boards) about how much you LOVE WDW? I feel like everyone just does not quite get it. I know people that LIKE it, but I have yet to meet someone who REALLY gets the magic, you know? My husband likes it, but not nearly as much as me. I think I need a support group! :ROFLOL:

Yes! I do feel that way. Everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. Their response to me, 'it's alright, it's just an amusment park'. NO WAY! It's so much more than 'just a park'! My ex husband was into the magic of Disney with me. Now, why did I divorce him?! :lookaroun J/K :p

I agree some people just don't feel the magic. My friend turned me on to it & I have turned my cousin into a Disney nut. We have been planning our next trip for over a year and LOVE every minute of it. There are rare days where we don't talk about something Disney. Most people just don't understand.

I do LOVE WDW!!!...
I do something towards planning my trip in Sept. almost every day!
I check the boards & read all the info. I can get my hands on about WDW.:D
I look at photos & scrapbooks from past trips.
I just love the feeling I get when I go there!
:sohappy:
And when I get back, I love remembering the fun I had when I was there!

Yes! I've talked 3 friends into going to WDW in October. I've been driving them crazy with all of the details. My husband doesn't get it, my kids put up with it and everyone else thinks I'm crazy! I wish I had just one person that loves Disney as much as I do to talk to.

I hear that... my DD is only 9 mos. old, so I'm hoping I can brain wash her to my side :goodnevil , my wife doesn't get it  and the more I talk about it, the more annoyed she gets and the less likely I am to get a successful trip plan going :zipit: .

My mom and I can talk about it more frequently, she's into it quite a bit. Funny enough, I've started chatting with a co-worker about it more, they go every year and are very into it - but so is her family so she's not as bottled up as I am.

<sigh> oh well... forums it is!

Just recently my aunt asked me where my husband and I were going on vacation this year. I said, "DISNEY WORLD!!!" Her reply was, "But you just went last year. Why don't you do something new like go on an Alaskan cruise?"
My husband is a Disney-freak like me, but no one else really is. My friends are supportive of my habit though. Periodically Disney stickers or pens will turn up in my mailbox at school (I'm a teacher).

I'm fortunate in that my immediate family is a bunch of disney nuts. My parents, 17 year old brother and myself love disney. I'm a 24 y/o grad student and I'm fortunate enough that my parents still pay for my WDW addiction!

We have close friends who also love WDW. We try to plan a trip with them once a year.

I don't make a fuss when someone says they are going on another cruise or if they go to the same beach every summer, why do they have to make a big deal about us and wdw? sure we like to go other places too, but WDW is the one place that ALL of my family can enjoy. Dad hates the beach, mom hates camping, but everyone can enjoy a trip to the World. It's just common sense for us!

My uncle (bit of a curmudgeon) once said WDW was the "biggest disappointment of his life" and I wanted to say "wow, if that is your biggest disappointment then you must have a wonderful life!"

My wife and I know absolutely NO ONE ELSE who understands or shares our love for Disney/WDW. I wear a Disney tie to work everyday, one of my Mickey watches, and a Disney pin of some sort depending on the holiday or time of year. I even have a Mickey sticker on the back of my nametag. I am very open about my love for Disney/WDW and I get lots of comments about how "nuts" I am almost daily as I am in management at a very large, very busy grocery store and I am in contact with tons of people everyday.

My wife is a nurse/lab tech at our local medical center and she has an extensive collection of Disney scrubs that she wears to work everyday so she gets lots of comments also. Both of our families think we are total nutbars. I managed to talk my sister, nephew and cousin into going to WDW with us last December in hopes that they would fall in love with it like we did. It didn't happen, they just didn't get it. Before the trip they just thought we were nuts...now they know we are nuts! As cheesy as this may sound, I thank God for this website. You will never know how much this website has helped me. I have met some great people here and you guys feel like family to me. I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you during our trips back "home".

I've been to WDW 12 times and i'm only 17 years old. The first time i went was when my mother was pregnat with me. I'm like totally in love with everything about WDW. Next year I am goin 2 times once with my school and then after graduation with a few of my friends. They all keep telling me that it better be a fun trip cause a few kids in school r like making fun of us for goin. All i keep telling them is how much fun its gonna be and its gonna be the best trip of their lives.

Everyday i find ways to connect things to WDW colors, sounds, etc... But like other people have said i really don't know anyone who feels the same way about WDW as me. When I am able to i'm goin to apply for the college internship. I can't wait.

Last saturday i got POTC 3 for the wii and beat it in 8 and a half hours me and my friend and little sister played it. I even like wear my disney shirts to school, some kids think its cool but others just don't get it.

I just have to applaud you for the use of the word 'curmudgeon'. that has to be extra scrabble points...

anyhoo, hubby and i LOVE wdw. dvc members and the whole lot. however, we do not have people that really "get" us. everyone does look at a weird when we say we are going again. i also have noticed, that upon meeting new people, if disney pops up in conversation, our friends will interrupt with the wide-eyed-eye-roll "They really are into disney stuff".

I think the part that interests me the most though, are the people you see and hear on vacation at wdw, who don't get it. how can you be there and not get it? the world may never know....

I have been to The World 4 times and am going again 6/30-7/8, I understand what so many on this thread have stated. I am a 911 Dispatcher and a Part time Deputy Sheriff so getting away from my home reality is a must! When I speak to the ppl I work with they are clueless as to what i try to pass on to them about WDW. Some will listen but not hear me others just think its a waste of time. One of my boss's went to WDW for 1 DAY, what in the heck I said, his responce, well I saw it all! How do you reach ppl like that? Or should ya even try?
I 'm taking my daighter, who just graduated H.S., thank you :ROFLOL: , and my 14 year old step daughter this year, and they are clueless as to our destination :snore: . I even did a dummy itenerary, maps and all to a Hotel in Key West and "accidently" left it laying out for them to see to throw them off. I am glad I joined this little support group and find myself checking it daily for my "Disney fix"

As I continue to read this thread, I have to laugh.

It seems as if people have a "what the hell" reaction to frequent Disney go'ers (especially DVC members).

How many of those people either 1) have a different time share interest and go to the same vacation place every year and/or 2) own a cabin or lake house somewhere that they frequent all summer/year long (depending on location)?

Better yet, how many of those people know someone else who does/has #1 or #2 and doesn't think a thing about it?

My name is Dawn and I am a Disney addict. I drive everyone crazy. If someone says they have never been I immediately start telling them how much fun it can be. I have done this with complete stranger in the Mall, Wal-Mart, everywhere. People have even called me (I gave my digits to them so I could talk about Disney they were willing to listen)for advice. I am not a expert (that is another excuse I can use to go back) but I know more than people who have never been. :ROFLOL:

When I plan a trip I mark every calendar we have backwards with the days til we go. I tell everyone every day how many more days even the UPS man. I think that.... I love Disney more than....Chocolate.:)

I know here where I live everyone goes to Ocean City Maryland and I just don't get it. Yet they are the same people who says Disney is too expensive. Hmmm well I went to OC one year a spent almost as much!

I definitely felt like that before my college program! I would encourage you to work there for a while and you will come across lots of Disney fans (and some Disney anti-fans). Or, try searching for facebook groups and see if there's anyone from your school that you know!

One of my big regrets of undergrad was never doing the CP. Unfortunately, I didn't renew my childhood love for Figment (and Disney) until my junior year, and by that time, other commitments precluded me from doing it.
