Does anyone else feel...

I have a buddy who talked about it constantly for a year or so after he and his wife and son went a couple of years ago. He went a few years in a row and that was all he would talk about when you talked to him. I just didn't get it because I had never been to WDW (or anywhere, really). We didn't do much traveling when I was younger.

After going for the first time in March of 2005 with my wife and kids, and again this past March, that is all I find myself talking about and thinking about now. I can now see what his obsession with WDW was all about and we usually talk about going and past trips whenever we get together or talk. Now we both drive the rest of our families crazy with it. :hammer:

My friends just refuse.

I've tried several times to convince friends to go. I just finally gave up. One good friend doesn't want to go unless he has a girlfriend. Unfortunately for him that may not happen in time for the next WDW trip I'm planning. Another friend has this "Disney is evil" theory and therefore refuses to go. His reasoning is that Disney has always been against copyright fair use and was an instrumental party in developing the DMCA. I don't know if there is any truth to it, but I'd rather not argue. I'd hate to get him down there and have him just wreck the whole thing.

I really wish I had more people who would go. When I ask, people will claim it is too expensive, then I'm just done. I can't argue well with that. If people don't have the money and don't feel it is worth saving up the cash, I just can't bother with it.

This is why I really enjoyed mousefest and the podcasts. Some great friends have been made that host DPN podcasts. I'm happy that I can meet up with these people and we can all enjoy the resort together. It is the common bond between us. Disney has the power to create friends, in a similar fashion to a summer camp. You do these activities, and all eflect on them around a great fire, or fireworks. Epcot seems to be the best for this, as the flow of the park makes keeping groups happy a breeze. Simply enjoy Future World early in the day, then drink around the world and end it with Illuminations. We did this with the LTAD podcast, amazing fun.

Different strokes for different folks.

I'm 27, and all my co-workers think it's weird that I would rather be in Orlando than at an All-inclusive resort drinking it up. That sounds cool, maybe in the fall or next year, but I still LOVE Orlando the best. The whole city elevates my mood and you can just sense Disney all around!

I try to convince people to go and unless they have kids they're like, "Yeah right" and even the ones with kids are like, "Do you know how much that costs?!"

can I add that I had to drag my boyfriend kicking and screaming last year. He had never been. He thought it was to expensive and for kids (what he had heard). We finally went in November during the food and wine festival - now i can't keep him away! he wants to move there and work at Disney! :ROFLOL:

My husband enjoys Disney when we are there, but always makes a fuss about going, its too expensive, we've already been etc., and can't understand why I enjoy reading these forums. But, when I told him the other day that El Rio del Tiempo had gone, he was quite upset. I think he is about to convert to a Disneyaholic! (He won't admit it though!)

My husband and mother are the only ones that I can talk to about my love for Disney. My co-workers think that I am crazy, however they all seem to make their way to MY office if they are "thinking" of taking their kids to WDW.:ROFLOL:

I am officially a Disneyholic (think I am becoming a WDWmagic-holic too need at least a twice daily fix!!)

The most upsetting thing for me is when someone I know makes reservations for WDW - and I get so excited for them and hype them up before they go - for them to return NOT understanding what 'all the fuss is about'!!!!!!!

Having said that, as i've 'grown up' i've realised that you have to be a certain type of person to 'let yourself go' and immerse yourself in all that WDW has to offer - i don't think everybody has the ability to let the magic take them over ..... some people are just too concious of the real world and can't escape even on vacation.

we have planned our family's 2nd trip for this sept., we just went in feb of this year and had a blast, my kids and hubby had never went, i went in high school 12 years ago. i told my mother in law and other family members that we are going back in sept. and what was i told my mother in law (who i adore dearly really), and what did she say? that she was tired of hearing about disney and not to mention anything around her about it, guess what no souveniers for her this round! also, our best friends who just had a cute little baby after trying for 10 years told me that when the baby gets older i better not mention to him anything about disney because he will not be going, dad calls mickey a 6 foot tall rat, which really insults me. hubby liked it but not as much as me and the kids. it took me a week to talk him into going again this sept, he wanted to go to the beach, but i told him we could enjoy all of the pools and water stuff at disney, i did fortunately talk him into it, so i planned things that i heard him say he wanted to do or stay at or eat at for this trip. he is a great hubby but he says that my obsession is worse than a 2 year olds. so, i just get on here everyday to check out everything. he says that he is going to block my access to disneyworld.com and to here after our next trip! lol!

All I know is that I spend my free time writing for a Disney newsletter, pre-order every book on the parks, play MouseWorld Radio in my office, and frequently read through guidebooks just to see what is new.....Does that make me obsessed? Oh I forgot my almost-900 posts here...

We do Disney 4 to 5 times a year also, and have been doing it the last 5 years. My 7 year old DD has known her way around the parks since she was 3 years old.....who needs a map:shrug: My 10 yr old son pretty much the same way. We also find it funny when watching Disney Shows or Specials on T.V. we can spot lots of the Disney Cast Members:lol: Our next trip is in 17 days:sohappy: and just booked a night earlier:hammer: We need Help:eek:

My name is Tatiana. I'm a WDW-aholic. I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and down here many people don't even know what WDW is. For most people (and that includes my family), I'm a freak. First because I hate it down here (I wish I were American), second because I spend every cent on trips to WDW. They just can't figure out the reasons why I love this place so much, so it's easier for them to call me lots of things, from childish and irresponsible to crazy and shallow. I stopped trying to convince them long ago. Now I just pack my things and say: "I'm going to Disney World!!!" And I don't even wait for their reply, because it's always the same: AGAIN???????

AT a checkout Friday night the cashier and I were talking about my 15 year old granddaughter pruchasing a Dora blanket. The woman in front of me turns around and says " Hey I am 45 years old and I am a Disney addict." I said "No kidding, and I am 61 and a disneyholic, and to prove it I had on my WDW Mickey's fifty years t-shirt". The lady behind me spoke up and said, "I leave for WDW on Sunday and my husband and I go as often as we can, BUT without the children". So disneyholics come in all ages and sizes and I am so glad that I encountered those 2 ladies because I have not been to WDW in 2 years and I am really missing it. I hope to return in 2009 when my twin grandchildren (due in December) can go for their first time:sohappy:

I agree, nobody really understands why I like WDW as much as I do. My wife likes it too, but she gets "Disney-ed out" where I don't. Everyone I work with are always like "You don't have kids... so why are you going?". I've tried to explain it, but they never get it.

There's just this since of happiness, relaxation, safety, knowing everything will be quality and most of all knowing that you can be a kid again and it's OK. Damn, I love that place.

My husband really loves Disney but he does not totally "immerse" himself. What I mean is that he does not take the time to study Disney and learn all the trivia. He likes it when I tell him what I have learned. He has a friend that is a total Disney freak but I get annoyed talking to him if he knows something I don't. I almost feel like we are in competition for who knows the most about Disney. Isn't that childish? I don't know why I feel that way, I guess I like being the Disney Queen. Oh well, other than my husband and his friend everyone thinks I am crazy. It's okay, insanity isn't all that bad!

The only person I can really talk to about anything Disney is the only person who I go with and that is my mom. My mom and I both love Disney. My dad and brother dont understand why we love to go so much. They tell us the same thing that it is just for kids. But they dont understand because they have been to disney world in 15 years. That is why I love this website. I love reading the forums and posting comments. It is nice to know I am not the only disney fanatic. I cant wait for my trip only 37 days to go!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

...like there is no one else they can talk to (in person, not on the boards) about how much you LOVE WDW? I feel like everyone just does not quite get it. I know people that LIKE it, but I have yet to meet someone who REALLY gets the magic, you know? My husband likes it, but not nearly as much as me. I think I need a support group! :ROFLOL:

I know what you mean. I am lucky in the fact that my wife is just about as Disney crazy as I am. However, we have tried to talk to family and friends about disney and they look at us like we were crazy. I even offered to pay for my parents to come down to WDW so they can see how much fun their grandaughter has and they said no thanks! A FREE TRIP!!

If you ever start your support group in upstate NY...let me know!
