Do you write letters?

I was just wondering how many in this fan community actually write letters or emails to Disney about what pleases and displeases them about their park experiences?

What kind of effect, if there is any all, do you think this has on big, managerial decisions that get made?

I, for one, do write emails to both WDW and Tom Staggs with my opinion on different happenings. Now, I always get the canned email or the secretary phone call, but in some way I like to think it gives me a voice as a consumer and articulates my issues or non-issues with where the company has gone and is headed.

I just wondered if most of you are doing the same thing. If you're not, maybe you should, it might make a difference and it might not, but it can't hurt.

I was actually thinking of writing a letter (positive) but I don't know where to send it. Anyone have an address for WDW.

i wrote one in october praising everything castmembers did for my wife and i on our trip (in which we had a baby!). i sent a written letter to both meg crofton and to the animal kingdom lodge (where we were staying obviously). i got a response from meg's secretary- honestly about what i was expecting.

it wasn't completely generic, in fact it was mentioned several details i had given.

in my case, taking the time to respond was really enough for me.

I have had the occasion to send a personal letter with absolutely no reply. So it is a good way to communicate, but responses are not guaranteed.

 at the Tinkerbell thread responses. I have some old "Eyes and Ears" info on that subject.

I only write letters in the instance of something extraordinary, be it good or bad. Otherwise, a guest comment card or a conversation with a manager seems more than sufficient.

The last letter I wrote was in reference to the changes to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from the show's Resident Director to discuss my concerns.

I have written a few letters before. Usually relating to some sort of change that I am not a fan of or disagree with. I don't ever expect my letters themselves to be impactful or change anything - but I hope they are at least noted and can be used along with other guest feedback when they evaluate certain things later. I have always receive a response back - but it's clearly a form letter with certain blanks filled, so it is personalized to a degree. I guess that is a lot better than most companies these days..

.

I wrote many times and did direct feedback in the parks regarding the UNM Tiki Room and how they should give Jose back his Show... In August they DID give Jose back his show. What effect did I have? Will never know for sure.... but I know I was far from alone in my opinion so I am certain they heard from a lot of the fans consistently voicing similar opinions on it.

Disney does listen, though they may not act on it instantly... in fact they are in a Class Above the Rest IMHO!!

On this subject, I wouldn't mind seeing a collection "bank" of letters and responses; something like the chilling effects website, but related to Disney.

Maybe someone is enthusiastic enough to make that happen. :sohappy:

I did this too.

I have actually written two letters this year. One was a complaint with the bus system and my room and the other was how we had such a great trip recently.

Good point, I am glad I came arcoss this message! Thanks Zooey. I did just return from my Disney trip and had a NOT so good experience at the Magic Kingdom. I am very sad about it! I will write a letter, thanks again for your message it helped me out to write to them. And yes, I do think people should let WDW know how good or bad they are doing.

I have written letters inthe past. One time I wrote to Mike Eisner and his Assistant called me back within a few days. Really nice lady.

The last time I wrote one was last year in October prior to my visit. After reading a plethora of negative remarks on here and other sites about the current condition of WDW, I felt a need to write to Al Weiss, Meg Crofton, and Tom Staggs on my company email letter head with my position.

Not only did I get 3 phone calls, One of the ladies was pulling Park Duty Manager shift the same time I was going to be there. I then informed her of specific issues I have heard about like Splash, and she told me she would tourr the attraction along with various leaders and see first hand.

She asked for my cell phone and called me while at my hotel there and asked my feelings on the park.

I was pleased with the level of attention I recieved...

I sent a handwritten letter to Tom Staggs just last week, actually (first one ever). I mentioned my design background, and then positively praised the care, detail, and tastefulness that clearly went into Aulani. Then I went the other way and showed how by those same principles, the hat in DHS really doesn't fit at all in its location, and that it ought to removed ASAP. That's probably still my #1 issue with WDW, so I thought I'd give him one positive opinion and one negative one.

Still waiting on my response.
