I brought this up since there is a rumor about Liberty Belle turning into a restaurant being mentioned on the TSI/Frontierland addition thread.

Magic Kingdom did need more table service restaurants, but the Fantasyland Expansion is a good start.

I rather not see Liberty Belle turn into a restaurant. It is one of my favorite rides at Magic Kingdom.

One of the reasons is the liberty Belle is a relaxing ride. The 2nd reason is Disney should look at how good Be our guest and Gaston's Tavern perform in terms of crowds after FLE opens. The 3rd reason is Fulton crab house offers already offers the experience that Liberty Belle would get if Liberty Belle is turned into a table service. If there are 2 boats with table service, it would stop making that experience at Fulton Crab house unique.

Only if the following happens.

They close Dinorama in DAK and build the Excavator wooden coaster that was supposed to go there.

Take Pime Evil Whirl and take the tacky theming away. Move it to TSI and enclose it so it's indoors. Theme it as a coaster through the caves of TSI!

None of that is ever going to happen. Ever.

I voted yes....assuming it gets us the E-ticket on the island. Otherwise....no point in it.

I voted no, I figure there are other spaces that were once used as restaurants that could be refurbed and rethemed to make other TS and CS dining options around the park.

Yes I realize that but another E in Frontier is a waste it already has two major E's. AL and TL and DAK need E-tickets first.

I personally wouldn't mind a restaurant on the boat if it meant keeping it in operation. You could have "after hours" dinner cruises so that during the day you could take the usual trip, but at night you'd have another dining option.

But I wouldn't mind the proposed option either if we were to get another E-Ticket out of it.

No!

I think they should rather add another boat, an Eastcoast Columbia.

I'm all for more rides, but not on the island and not at the expense of the riverboat. Philistines!

Well if they turn the Liberty Bell into a restaurant, the last transport on the Rivers of America comes to a halt with the Keel Boats and Davy Crocketts Canoes gone for years now. The river would become nearly totally empty, with the only movement on it being the rafts to TSI and back. It would be completely useless without a boat on it that really moves.
So I say, no, there is some movement necessary on the RoA or they can abandon it completely.

I'm gonna say helllllll no... There is too much land in wdw for them to even think about taking out another ride.. Leave tsi and the boat alone, go fix something else that aint broken.

Do you mean turning it into a restaurant for special occasions after hours? The way that Hollywood Studios does with the Great Movie Ride?

Otherwise this is the most ridiculous attempt at a rumor I've heard in a while. Would the boat be docked or would people try to scarf down the meal in approximately 10 min it takes to make the tour? Or maybe it could go round and round while dessert is served? Ridiculous.

While I'm here I'll start-I mean mention another rumor I've heard. Fultons is going to be turned into Tiana's Place.

Discuss.

Absolutely NO. I love the easy going ride along the river and the sights off the sides. To turn it into a restaurant would take a major piece of the park out of commission. I see many many people who enjoy the ride on the Liberty Belle who cannot for a variety of reasons ride other rides. Theres lots of other areas that restaurants can be fit in. I Vote to leave it alone!!!

I think using it for a restaurant is a great idea. After all, it’s not really a boat, but rather a paddle wheel replica on a track. However, it does have real steam engines and those could be put to good use in a restaurant. They’ve got all that extra steam and boiling water that they can use to cook corn, steam crabs, poach eggs, steam turkey legs and all manner of other boiled dishes. Also, every so often they could blow the whistle real loud to help wake up the people coming out of HoP!

I mentioned it in the other thread, but a big NO from me. Main reason is they don't need to. Need more TS in MK? Fine, just refurb/repurpose and restaff Tomorrowland Terrace, Diamond Horseshoe, and Adventureland Veranda. With Belle's new restaurant, that gives us one TS for every land then some.

They shouldn't have to take over a ride when they have the facilities elsewhere that are rotting/going unused.

That, and if you are going to perminantly dock the Liberty Belle, might as well fill the RoA with concrete as without the boat there is no other reason to have the water.

We need the Rivers of America. It creates the Wide Open space that is the hallmark of pioneer america. One might as well not have a Frontierland and Liberty Square. Their entire set-up revolves around the river, around the river fading off into 'infinite space'. Their aesthetics rely on the kinetics of the river, the movement of the ships. The adventurous, open feel requires the exploration there is to do on TSI, the difficulty of getting there (perhaps too difficult).

It are these (almost) subconscious elements which set the Magic Kingdom apart from mediocre parks. Because elements like these are so difficult to express in words, because they are so subtle as to be difficult to appreciate, they are not easily copied. This is why the castle parks are so difficult to emulate - few even understand just why they work on you on such a deep level. It is only when elements are taken out that one suddenly feels something is missing, that something is wrong, that the 'magic', the sublime experience is gone, at least diminished.

Disney and the original park designers truly were geniuses. They build an astonishing park, never equalled since, not in half a century. Pity it is nowadays ran by philistines who think one can do away with the entire river and swap it for a liveless duck pond.

If anything, WDW ought to add to the river. Start by building another boat. A unique one. That Orlando may be on par with Anaheim and Paris. Both have two diferent boats each. As in just about any other aspect, both these parks despite less visitors have more offerings.

What?

Let's see....it floats, it has steam engines, it doesn't sink....sounds like a boat to me.

Psshh, next thing you know they'll be saying that Haunted Mansion isn't really a mansion or haunted for that matter.

I don't see the need to make it into a restaurant. There are new restaurants coming and there are other usable venues. It seems like it would be a waste of money that could be better spent on vacant areas like the Adventureland Veranda.
