I usually do pack a pretty good first aid type pharmacy... which is amusing because I'm sure they would give you this stuff at the first aid centers in the parks too, but I like to know my vacation won't be ruined. I pack Aleve, Advil, Tums, pepcid (or whatever heartburn medicine I have as we tend to eat a lot there), band aids, blister pads, and two pairs of insoles. Oh, and aloe for sunburn and mosquito bite stuff just in case, though I've never gotten bitten there.
In all my trips there, I've made use of the insoles and maybe 1 advil once (laughs). But it just makes me feel better to have a lot of stuff there just in case.
I would recommend not taking the entire container of these medicines, and instead putting them in a pill organizer or something (if the capsules are well marked... if not, you may want the original container just in case the people at the airport have questions). I save as much space as I can and my "pharmacy" can usually fit in a sock.

I would rather run out of clothes than my first aid and cold supplies. There is a Walgreen's close to Disney on 192, but I always prefer to avoid the hassle by having it available in my room. I have caught colds and such at Disney before (kids + surfaces = germs) and I have learned to take an ample supply of everything possibly needed in an emergency. I am within driving distance, so airplane storage is never an issue.

I never pack a single pill or potion. Since the age of 12 I've not taken any medication other that those actually ordered by a doctor. I always think my body will cope with it in it's own way.

My wife usually packs a couple of pain killers though, just in case she get's a headache or something.

Yes! And my wife thought I was crazy until she got some blisters and I had enough moleskin and band-aids to keep her comfortable and walking around without pain.

I always think that is pays to have some essentials with you. I guess it is the Boy Scount in me that always had a well equiped first aid kit. :D

NO! I always bring Advil into my bag when I hit the parks, but otherwise no. I don't have problems, usually - I am pretty low maintenance. As long as I have Advil and chapstick I should be fine. :D

DW packs the big pharmacy, but I never touch that stuff either. I had a cold the whole week we stayed at POFQ a few years ago, and I didn't take anything for it or let it affect our park touring at all. There's not time to be sick at WDW, so I just pretended I wasn't. There's plenty of time to be sick at home.

We always pack Motrim, Bandaids and Pepto Bismal. In all the years we've been coming to the World, we have only been sick one time and had to give up a day because of it. But things happen, so better to be prepared.

Last month we took a carry-on that was all pills/meds...I bet it looked pretty interesting to the x-ray people :lookaroun

But I got a cold/sinus thing on our trip in Aug 2007. I had only packed a few sinus pills and had to shell out megabucks at the gift shop to get more. So I came prepared this time....or so I thought. Caught a cold on day 2 and lost my voice by day 3! Didn't have a voice for 5 DAYS in Disney World! Horrible cough the whole week. Even the meds I packed weren't helping. Had to go down and pay $5 for Vicks at the gift shop :( Even when you are prepared, you're not prepared! I say pack away!

I've come down with the flu a couple days into a trip before. That was horrible. I kept going, tho, after a trip off property to a pharmacy. I generally bring a 1st aid kit that includes cleansing wipes, bandaids, blister pads, and neosporin. This has come in handy when one of the kids fell and skinned a knee. I even got complimented by another mom for my level of preparedness. LOL! I pack sinus meds, cold meds, travel kleenex, travel size baby wipes, advil, my son's allergy eye drops, and a supply of any other prescription meds we may be on at the time. No matter how well you plan, tho, sometimes things come up. In May when the hubby and I went without the kids I misjudged how much Dove bar soap I'd need (I have very sensitive skin), I should have brought two bars. Also, hubby was less than halfway thru a 6 week course of very, very strong antibiotics while there and had some secondary problems from the meds. If you ever need anything over the counter or that can be bought in a basic drug store go to the front desk of your resort and they can get what you need for you. They have a local drugstore that they work with to take care of these needs. Basically, the order is called into Turner Drugstore and they will deliver it to the resort within a few hours. I think they charged the cost of the order to our room. What a lifesaver for us!

Oh yes! I always bring my pharmacy. I have my Advil, allergy pills of varying strengths, remedies for assorted stomach issues, cold relief, ear drops, eye drops, nose sprays, stuff to make you sleep, stuff to make you not sleep, blister relief, band aids, various lotions, and pretty much anything else you could purchase at a Walgreens. This is all in addition to the 4 daily medications I take. Oh...and LOTS of chapstick and gum. I don't go anywhere without my chapstick or gum.

The sad thing is, all of the above mentioned things travel with me pretty much all the time...just in smaller quantities. At work I am known as Pharmacy Girl. Whatever you need, there is a good chance I have it. :lookaroun

I will this year, last year I didn't bring anything and my husband ended up with a sinus infection and my son ended up with and ear infection and was coughing so hard, he ended up gagging himself and throwing up on more than one occasion. This year I went to Target and made sure I have Pepto, asprin, motrin, cough syrup, sudafed and a whole lot more. I'm coming prepared this time and hoping I won't need any of it!

We travel with 2 kids (now 20 &14, but started at 4 &about 20 months) so we have always traveled with a pharmacy.
I take 12 pills and 2 injections daily and the DH has his medications and we always have the asthma inhalers...I have a travel bag for medications only that I keep in my carry on.

That is my theory. If I have the stuff, I won't need it. I have yet to go through a trip and need something other than the standard Advil though. I am always really happy that I packed that one random remedy because I would have been miserable without it. I just don't want to take the risk of not feeling well on my vacation.
