It's the most wonderful time of the year... Scary Movie Season!!! :sohappy:
Isn't fall the best? The weather starts getting cooler, the leaves
are changing, and scary movies hit the airwaves by the boatload.

I watched two films over the weekend.... One old and one new(ish).

I watched "Monster Squad". It's a late 80's movie were kids battle
Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein, and the Creature from the Black
Lagoon. A cross between "Goonies" and "Ghostbusters" if you will. It's
such a great movie. Be forewarned though... these kids curse like
sailors. This film delivers quite possibly the greatest line in modern day
cinema.

I also watched "The Orphanage" which is a Spanish haunted house thriller.
Great film. Highly emotional film. I cried like a friggin' baby. The only turnoff for some people would be the subtitles, but please
don't let that stop you from seeing this brilliant movie. (P.S.
make sure to look for the Peter Pan references.)

With the season just starting I have so many more movies to
revisit. The Ring, Psycho,The Great Pumpkin(which airs tonight) and
the Dawn of the Dead remake.

So many movies.... So little time.

I hate scary movies...even hearing commercials for movies like Saw or any other scary movie gives me chills...:(

I will just wait for the holiday movies to come on soon...Charlie Brown Shows and It's a Wonderful Life...the good stuff with no scary things that jump out at you!.

I LOVE MONSTER SQUAD! I haven't seen that in SO LONG!!!

This year I've watched,

All 5 Saw movies, The Devil's Rejects, The Ring (just because it's been on SO MUCH!), Gremlins (which I consider a Christmas movie LOL), Aliens, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original one), and Nightmare on Elm Street.

I hope to pop in Amityville Horror, and The Lost Boys.

I dislike scary movies. They are not really my cup of tea. I mean, I dont HATE them... and I will watch one once in a great while. But my brain asborbs every detail and such... and I have very vivid dreams. And I dont like nightmares.. lol so yeah. I try to avoid scary movies. /wuss  :o

I do love Christmassy Movies though. :king::xmas:

I agree with MaggieGrace on Lost Boys and Gremlins (that they are not scary movies) and also I hate scary movies. What does people getting cut up do. I know that it is extreme but life is fragile and death is death. It bothers me to see someone die in a movie. I know I am overly sensitive and so does my husband, so he watches scary movies without me and that is just fine! I also agree with MaggieGrace on the holiday movies!

We watched The Strangers and Amityville Horror - the remake at our studio Halloween party this past Sunday.

Quick story - the studio has ghosts (2 young boys) and at the appropriate part in the movie, the studio back door blew open and a ceiling tile came crashing to the floor. The kids jumped a foot in the air and screamed at the top of their lungs. The kids are convinced the boys flung the door open. Classic moment.

The Lost Boys has always been one of my favorite movies.

I've watched a few horror movies lately (Amityville Horror being one of them). I don't care much for slasher movies anymore, but LOVE the supernatural thrillers (like Amityville, The Ring, ect.).

How was The Strangers?

It had some good suspense moments - but the main character wasn't very bright in her decisions, so we spent a lot of the movie yelling at her choices. The kids got a good scare though so it was a success.
Not a gory movie, a few "F" bombs and an almost s-x scene gave it the R rating.

Man I love this time of the year and scary movies, I own around 350 horror movies.

Lost Boys is one of my favorites - the second one was really bad

I have to go into work but if you have not watched night of the demons or last house on the left these are two of the ones that really enjoy.

I will list some of my other favorites later

You should actually watch the Saw movies then (especially the first one). There is no "killer" in Saw. The premise of the movie is that Jigsaw (the "villain") puts these bad people that take life for granted into escapable traps. If they escape, they live...if they don't...they die. He does it to open their eyes...that life shouldn't be taken for granted but should be enjoyed and appreciated while it lasts. If you can get past the "gore" aspect of it...they are actually good movies.

I will watch every Saw and scary movie there is in a row if you are there with me...:D:kiss::animwink:

...well, lets get started! We only have a few more days before Halloween!!!

I gotta admit, Lost Boys is one thing that I just don't seem to get. I understand it's got a big following but it's just not there, for me.

I think it's more of a nostalgia thing for me. It was the first horror movie I ever watched (actually, second if you count Monster Squad because they were playing back to back on HBO when I was younger  )

It was really a decent vampire movie...and when you have the "Two Coreys" in the cast...it's sure to be a hit

Thank you for explaining the movie but I really am a wimp when it comes to gore so I don't think I will be able to make it through. I always wondered what the Saw movies were about.

The "killer" named Jigsaw (in all of the commercials, you hear his voice) has a great life and family...and gets diagnosed with brain cancer and feels that his life has been cheated. He looks around at all of the people that are taking their life for granted and doing the wrong things and tries to "rehabilitate" them... Yes, sometimes something horrible must happen to open your eyes...but once it happens, you'll be better off.

(Kinda like someone who is drunk driving and gets in an accident...and kills another person...it sometimes opens up their eyes and they quit drinking).

Hehe, but Jigsaw actually died at the end of Saw III.

If you're a gore-wimp...definitely stay away. It's a gore-fest...but they're not really "scary" movies...just suspenseful and (especially the first one) there's usually a good twist at the end.
