Do you get enough sleep each night during you Disney World vacation?

After doing our recent plans for our next Disney World trip coming up thing december... I realized that we are out until very late each night and up very early each morning. It limits our sleep each to about 5.5 hours each night. We usually use the motto of that we can sleep when we get home :)

I'm curious if everyone does that or do you put sleep up as a higher priority on your vacation?

That all depends on how often you get to do The Magic - we can only get to WDW every 2 - 3 years (and stay for 14 days), so we "do Disney to death" while we're there - up early, full day catching up on what's new and our favourite attractions / shows & late to bed. We always get back home needing a vacation to wind down

When we go we are usually in a dead run from the time we get on the plane until the time we get off ....the first night I usually do not get alot of sleep by the second night I think I can sleep through just about anything.

If you are going to be too tired and grumpy to enjoy your time in the parks, a lack of sleep can be counter productive.

It all depends on your stamina levels.

We average about 6 hours. Which by the end of the week makes it very hard to get the kids up. But we also leave a day to spare when we get home; that way we can rest, nap, chill, while we are doing laundry, putting everything away, and we don't feel so tired when we go back to work on Monday.

I used to never get enough sleep on the first night of my trip, I'd be staying up until 3 AM (trying to get to sleep, but too excited about the next day). That was before I found the joys of sleeping on the sofa! (I sleep so much better on sofas for some reason) I fell asleep in 10 minutes as opposed to 3 hours :D
So yes, now I get enough sleep on my WDW vacations.

We very rarely plan our full stay minute by minute. We make a list of must do's but for the most part, we decide as we go. When we're tired, we're done for the day. Otherwise, half way through the trip, we're going on adreneline and feel we're doing things just for the sake of doing it, not because we feel like it. As WDW is a vacation, I try to come home feeling refreshed, but, I never quiet get there.... :D

Much to the dismay of my family I hardly ever sleep when I am at Disney. When we went on the Disney cruise I slept maybe 9 hours in 4 days.

We are not "super planners", we usually just do what we want to do. We do take a break in the afternoons when needed (esp in the summer months) and if we stay out really late one night we just get a later start the next morning.
We do seem to sleep less while on vacation, but that is anywhere we go.

while it is tempting to go from morning till night, I learned early on that lack of sleep = lack of patience for me. If I am very tired I tend to cry when things upset me or completely lose my temper and scream and yell. I need a minimum of 7 hours a night otherwise I am completely useless.

I actually get MORE sleep when I'm at WDW, but it's not all in one shot at night. I wake up super early, head out to the parks, play like a fool, eat lunch, and then I go back "home" to relax by the pool.

If (okay, more like WHEN) there is a mid-afternoon thundershower, I usually leave the pool, and have a nap until it's time to leave for dinner.

I go out for dinner, play like a fool until the parks close, and then I head back to my room to have another late night swim, and then I go to bed (unless, of course, I go to PI that night).

So I get two shots of sleep - one is about 5 hours (maybe 6), the other is usually about two. Believe it or not, that's way more sleep than I get at home!

I sleep like a baby. I usually get less sleep down there then up here, but its worth it. I sleep alot more soundly, probably because I am so exuasted.

I really get very little sleep when I am there. Heck, when I get back to the room after a long day I turn on the Disney resort TV channel and watch that until Iam good and ready to go to sleep.

I never sleep better than when I am down there either. No matter how little sleep I get, I am so full of enery and ready to go as soon as I open my eyes. My wife and daughter though is a different story. :snore:

I remember getting some of the best sleep at the Disney resorts. My favorite time to sleep there was right after my sister and I had gone to Typhoon Lagoon for the day, and we would lay in bed and still feel the motion of the wave pool, ahh...I miss the Yacht Club!

I have to agree, some of the best sleep I've gotten has been at Disney. We call it "The Death March", up before the parks open, do everything and straight to night activities. If you're going to be there for at least a week, plan to do the all day thing every other day only, this way the troops won't plan a mutiny.

NEVER! While my family (husband and teenage daughter) are protesting madly, I am up very early and have them out very late at night. I am too excited to sleep much. I usually wake up about 4 am on my own while we are there having gotten to bed around 1 or 2am. While at home, I get a full 8 or 9 hours of sleep most nights, but there is nothing else in my life as exciting as WDW. And of course, my bed at home is MUCH more comfortable. Lets face it....the beds at WDW SUCK! They are horrible! Maybe THAT is why I don't sleep there!

Yes I do the same thing! We always stay out late at the parks and DTD. When we stayed at the WL we went to DTD and came back late and went swimming. Lots of fun but we were exhausted the next day.
