Do the forums ever ruin your Disney experience

Nope.

The information I get actually gives me a clue on what to expect ahead of time in terms of refurbishments or what new things Disney is doing to WDW.

The truth was before I checked info on WDW years ago on website, I didn't know what attractions were done for refurbishment ahead of time.

double edge sword. Enjoy what I have learned from people on the forums and there are Disney nuts liked me out there. Many people give the "you going again" but not here. Heck my 10 times to WDW is light weight around here.

I don't blame forums but the Internet has taken away the WDW suprises I received before 2002. Not knowing what to expect until I arrive about updates and new rides. On the flip side, I have learned some things I would have missed if not for the forums. But some of the magic is gone because of what I know.

If anything these forums have enlightened me to some things at WDW. Other things mentioned here that get some all frazzled, I honestly couldn't care less about.

This forum has never ruined my WDW experience... however this forum has many a time ruined my WDWMAGIC expeience.

Misc

The forum never ruins my vacation, but I personally feel that there is more hostility allowed on this forum than many forums that I have belonged to. I get frustrated by many of the attitudes and don't enjoy reading many of the posts. I've been just a ghost reader for quite some time, and after our vacation in August/September doubt I return due to the attitudes.

These forums have the potential to ruin most anyone’s Disney experience if they fail to separate the pixie dust from the facts. While there is a good quantity of accurate information on the forum, there is also a lot of information provided by well meaning people who are misinformed. A certain amount of vigilance is required on these forums to prevent Disney dumbed down syndrome.

As has been expressed by others, there is too much open anger and hostility expressed by certain members toward other members.

These forums enrich my WDW experience significantly.

I've learned more here than I could in decades of visits. I've met, and am looking forward to meeting, some fantastic friends through contacts initiated here. A few have become friends "beyond Disney" IRL.

I never feel disappointed when someone mentions something I haven't done, it just gets added to my to-do list for the next trip. :king:

I agree. This site enhances my visits, as well. For example, I had no knowledge of the kiss goodnight every night at Magic Kingdom. Now, I never miss it. What a great end to the day.

Also, as a fanatic, it is nice to read differing opinions and input on Disney matters. And, like Monty Mon said, I have learned more on these forums than I could have ever learned through my visits.

Without WDWmagic I perhaps never would have got the tip to watch Wishes from the Polys beach during my stay there, which was a completely different and breathtaking experience. So WDWmagic really changed my reception of the parks in a positive way.

I found these forums after one day watching the travel channel about Disney World. I sat down and typed in forums for WDW. Oh boy did I learn everything about it. For instance never knew that many years ago we could have gone to Disney.

Did not knows:

That you could pay it out
What the hotels looked like
that you could get a dining plan and eat
pictures of food that helped me determine
places to eat and which land
transportation by bus
golf mini for nightime use in Dec
DISCOUNTS

These are a few and I mean few of the things I learned that very first day on this forum. When we did go to Disney that year I was talking to a lady on the bus and she knew nothing of discounts, paying it out, nothing and paid full price for everything or got none of the things I talked about. I too would have been one of those clueless people that did not make the most out of our trip for running around looking for things. This place is the best most helpful place. Thanks to you all. But there is always someone who blast me down and says: (this has already been talked about) Makes me very angry. Not all of us are at the computer every day to read all day long and may have missed that discussion. For that I was sorry. I ever asked.

YES - It's sad to see so many negative remarks concerning handicapped persons. Obviously, it's much easier to speak freely on a computer than in public at the parks.

I understand what you mean but, there are so many instances swhere they have only gotten en evc because they don't want to walk because of there size. I have witnessed time and again where we were in line with families where the grandparents are on carts wont move their legs to act as though they cannot walk. then an hour later the 5 year old grandchild is driving the cart and the grandmother was trotting along side of him. then there were the brazillions that had 3 young guys in EVC's in line for Maelstrom about 0 of them then after the ride the guys swapped out and were popping wheelies on the things. THIS is why so many have negative thoughts. It is overly abused to the point where you cannot tell; who really needs it and who does not. They abuse the bus lines we wait hours to get on and they stroll up and get right on with about 8 of their family members and there again we have to wait. These people were grossly huge and we had seen them in the lobby of Wilderness lodge to eat at Whispering Canyon which we had ressies for as well and these people were running all over the place and up and down stairs to get the kids with them..This is a few things we have witnessed and when you do you tend to be sour on the whole thing for that day. There are many more stories like mine on here. But I do not judge anyone unless I saw it myself and in these few cases we did.

Neither do I they were just one of the groups the others were good old americans as we heard them and stood next to them. Sad Sad. I do not discriminate but it is really hard to witness these things and then judge who needs it or not. We just go on until someone else abuses the rules and uses the carts to get farther on the rides. These people on the rides really do not hold things up much but the buses do. They really need a special bus for EVC's only that comes and picks them and makes the rounds to their hotels. I have a mother that really needs to ride in one but because of all the things we have seen she would rather walk and suffer.

The only thing that ruins my trips are some broken lights, and some chipped paint. :lookaroun

Please be joking. If not, it's this type of people on here that ruin it for me. I just don't see the need (or the point) in complaining about every little thing.

Other than these few people, I love this site and have learned tons about all different aspects of Disney since joining!

I still remember why I joined this site. I was planing my december trip and I found that the Lights of Winter would not be set up that year. Ever since then I got hooked. It makes me laugh everytime I see people moarning Disney attractions that left years ago. I saw a thread on some broken lightbulbs one time. It's nice to know how things work but now some things seems so fake to me or dont amaze me as much after I figured out how they all work. Thats why I love the light parades so much. As tecnical as they are just the things they make out of the lights alone are amazing to see. Even without the Disney theme san Electrical parade is still cool to watch for any age. The theme puts it all together.
