DME - Faith Restored

Well I'm 19 days out from my trip and received my DME tags with ALL the CORRECT information. Such a difference from the last time I used DME. I feel more confident now and glad I gave them a second chance.

I received my first DME packet eighteen days out. But I added a one night room only ressie about two weeks before I got it, and my arrival info was missing (!), so I called to make sure everything was alright. Then yesterday (eight days out) I received a SECOND DME packet with my flight info AND actual date of arrival! Sweet, I have TWO coupons for free pins! (does happy dance)

Now, if only the hurricanes will stay away and Raglan Road will open....

I just got my DME stuff in the mail and because I've been having such big problems with them actually knowing what day I'm arriving, I called and the (finally) really nice guy at Central Res told me that although the info on my tags was incorrect, it had been corrected in the computer and that the CMs at the Disney desk at OIA would be seeing the same screen he was seeing. I think I finally have everything settled and all I have to do now is pack and get on the plane.

Are you confident that this is true? Because I've been having a similar problem, and it's making me very nervous. Our departing flight to come home is Song 2096, leaving at 7:20 P.M. So that tag was fine. However, they had the EXACT SAME information for our arriving flight! I got the same answer, that they changed everything in the computer, and it should be fine, and I don't need to new tags (I wouldn't have time to get them anyway, we leave in 10 days!). My problem is that the tags still have the wrong flight number and arrival time on them, although they do have the right hotel desitnation. My thought was that, as long as they said the luggage had to go to POFQ, they would get there, however the rest of the family is concerned that having the wrong flight number and times on the tag is going to mess everything up. Anyone have and suggestions/advice/insight on this? Thanks in advance!

I am sure this will be fine, however if you dont want to deal with the anxiety simply DONT tag your luggage going to Orlando. Proceed to baggage claim, pick up your luggage the same way you would if DME was not involved, bring your bags with you to the DME counter and they will be put on the DME bus with you for transport to the resort. My wife and I used DME for the first time this year in August. Didn't have a problem. Frankly, it was nice not having to worry about our bags. (I guess I should admit that we did have a change of clothes in our carry on, just in case.)

The only problem we experienced was at the airline check-in at the resort. We should have checked the names while at the counter. We learned that we were checked in as someone else when we boarded the DME bus for the airport. I hope someone will learn from our mistake. Opps... life goes on.

We're leaving on Oct. 13th and received our packet and tags on Monday, 9/19!!! I'm impressed - looking forward to a smooth operation! Still planning on taking what we need in an overnight - we're getting in at 7:30 p.m. - we may just pick take Belle's suggestion and not tag the bags and pick them ourselves to make sure they go with. Just in case ...

Wow, a few things.
First off, I'm in Lindenhurst  fellow Long Islander lol

Second, holy crap I'm flying home Song on flight 2096!?!?!

Third, I had problem with DME tags, too, and when I called stating that they did not even have my arriving flight info, and that the date was wrong, they corrected it in their computer and said everything was good. I would call them again, and if you are still unsure, insist that they Fed Ex you new tags with the correct info. Can't hurt to try, right?

Fourth, have you flown Song before? If so, any info (like do ALL the seats have TV's, even the exit row seats?)

And, finally, can me and DH bum a ride from JFK? hehe j/k

Wow, that's so funny! North Massapequa here! When are you arriving in Orlando? And you're leaving on 10/6 at 7:20, I assume? Alas, I have never flown on Song either, but from what I can gather from their website, all the seats do have their own TVs. It seems exactly like Jet Blue, which I have flown on, and was very nice! Haha, we are actually still figuring out how to get home! We have five people, a rather annoying number! We might end up having to take a limo, which honestly I'm pulling for, but everyone else seems rather annoyed about. If that's the case, I'm sure you could stowe away somewhere!

Anyway, I have called TWICE to make sure that they did in fact change things in the system. The first time they STILL had us both arriving and departing on 2096, although the arrival date and time were corrected, and then the second time (which was after my original post) everything was finally correct. I'll call AGAIN one more time before we leave, but I guess I'm confident enough to give it a go at this point. Also, I enjoy the concept of not having to deal with my baggage once I leave JFK far too much to pick it up myself at MCO, so I really have no choice! Hey, worst comes to worst, we sit by the pool with some drinks while we wait for our luggage! :-)

Also, we probably still have to have Song put their own tags on the luggage, correct? Which gives me further hope that it will arrive properly in MCO.

I used DME during my last trip in July/05 and we never received our tags.

However, once we got to the airport and were directed to the DME welcoming center, all of my info was there in their system and all I had to do was identify my luggage in some kind of luggage chart they showed me and, lo and behold, my luggage reached my hotel room at AS Sports right on schedule.

I wouldn't worry to much, hey, it's Disney!

Exactly what I was going to say...as soon as I read the initial post, I thought "yay! now you have accurate tags, take them and immediately paste them in your scrapbook and forget about them." :)

DME is a great service to get you to and fro WDW for free - but the luggage is a bit overkill for me, and if something happens to my bags (and they don't arrive) I want to know who to complain to - Disney or the airline. Just too many possibilities to make it worth not grabbing my own bags as usual.

Let me put your mind at ease...

Your flight information is used ONLY to preschedule the Motorcoach departure times from the Airport. Regardless of if your flight information is correct or not (or even missing) once you arrive in Orlando, you will be assigned on the next Motorcoach departing to your Resort area. In most cases your wait at the airport should be about 15 minutes or less.

The yellow DME Bag Tags will have only your name, room reservation and resort information printed on it and encoded in the bar codes. No flight information is recorded on these tags. Once ANY bag with a yellow tag is recieved by Orlando International Airport, it is given to Disney to sort and verify. Once you check in at the Disney Welcome Desk, your baggages are then sent on it's way to your Resort. If you bags are not tagged, AND you request at the Airport's Disney Welcome Desk for us to claim and deliver your bags, we will pull them from the normal baggage claim based on the information on your claim tickets given to you by the airline. In most cases your bags will arrive at your resort within 2 hour or less of your arrival (you personally will normally arrive at your resort within about 1 hour of your arrival in Orlando.) If you arrive before the normal 3 pm check-in time, your bags will often be in your room before you are!

Also included in your DME travel documents are your Motorcoach vouchers, listing just your names. You will get 1 voucher per person regardless of weither you are using DME one way or round trip. These are used only to ensure Mears is paid correctly. Again, if information is wrong, or you are missing any vouchers, you will be given replacements by DME Cast Members.

Disney's Magical Express Standard Operating Procedures Manual has pages and pages of fail-safe scenarios to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of both you and your belongings. I have read (ok, mostly I just kinda glanced through it :drevil: ) the latest version of this manual and believe me, they have thought of everything...

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

That is right. Since you are departing from a different resort then the one you arrived at, you were correctly booked for two separate one-way transfers with DME. The books cannot be customized between one-way and round trip so you should have recieved two complete books. Besure to only use the luggage tags that are printed with All Star Sports. The Coronado Springs Luggage Tags should be discarded. Also you should use each of your Motorcoach Vouchers as printed.

Enjoy your trip! :sohappy:

We're flying out of LGA on the 28th at 2pm. You should get a limo, there's a place on Montauk Hwy/Merrick Rd that has airport specials form $45 (it's across from the fire dept just east of the Hess station lol) DH and I are probably getting a towncar to LGA because if I let my father drive us, he will INSIST on parking, lugging the luggage, checking us in, and then keeping us company while we wait. I love my dad, but NOT that much lol.

Hi! I have a question I hope someone can answer. I booked 9 days at the POR in February for my husband and I. We just found out that due to a problem concerning his work schedule he can only stay for 4. Is it "legal" for my daughter and her 2 kids to join me for the last 5? Do I have to change names at CR? If the answer is "Yes:, will they be able to use ME? I would really appreciate any info on this.

Thanks

From what I have read, name changes are NOT PERMITTED for room ressies or park tickets.

So you think I would have to make two separate reservations? One for the first 4 days and another one for the next five days? I booked BRP. I wonder if I could change it.
