Goodbye Walt Disney World! Our hard earned vacation dollars and our mileage points are not taking us to Central Florida or not even anywhere Disney this time. Everything is in the discussion stages, but most likely a few must see spots in Europe are on the agenda. Goodbye to park reservations, crowded busses, 7:00 am lines at entrance gates, Genie+, and overpriced meals. Hello, some planning appropriate to wherever we go... along with lazy days at museums and cafes and taking in the sights. It's time to discover the real world again. At least for a few years until Epic Universe opens.

I know the perfect non-Disney Theme Park that serves as the perfect alternative to Walt Disney World.

Efteling is the only non-Disney Park that actually runs and operates like Disney (sans Tokyo and Paris) was once famous for. Not only does the park keep their attractions well maintained, but frequently adds decent entertainment offerings (especially during the Winter Season) and makes guests actually feel special.

They even hold a special opening ceremony where Pardoes and Pardijn (the parks' mascots) would invite a guest to help open up the park with a special key that occurs daily. That's how dedicated they are to making guests feel welcome!

Why bother with the diatribe? It upsets you more than a lot of us, especially when you know what to expect. If you're into expectation setting, please listen to the plans being discussed for Epic Universe admission you'll find them to be strangely familiar.

We're taking our first trip to the Netherlands next year and hope to visit Efteling. Looks like they have some pretty neat dark rides

If you hate early starts, big crowds and advanced reservations... I've got some bad news for you about the hot spots in Europe.
