Yak & Yeti
So, when is the Yak & Yeti opening?
I wonder if that menu will be better?

I agree with this assessment. The difference being that you generally spend all day at a Disney Park, and just a few hours at a game. But $4 20 oz soft drinks at the Rangers game on Sunday night, made the $6 beer seem worth it.![]()
This is true, and it's also true that most people aren't used to eating out 3 meals a day.
However, I've always found the over-riding factor between people who complain about Disney food prices and those who think they are "average" is where you live.
In the north-east here I live, $7 for a burger and fries is just how much it costs. McDonalds is a little cheaper, but any place who serves counter service just costs that much. So at WDW I don't find it that outrageous at all. $30 for a sit-down meal is how much any decent restaurant where I live charges, except for diners.
In some parts of the country, food is much cheaper than others. To those people the prices seem much higher. As you pointed out, there are plenty of examples of it being a lot worse. You can always drive to Checkers or a McDonalds with a dollar menu (many in the area don't offer one, though) if you want cheap fast food, but for many paying a little more for not having to drive off-site is worth it. Although when I'm trying to keep to a strict budget, I end up doing just that - plan eating on the way to/way from the parks.
That's one huge advantage to having your own vehicle...since I started driving to WDW instead of flying/staying on-site I found it SO nice to be able to stay late at a park without worrying about getting food before you leave because by the time you get back to the resort any real food is closed. There are so many late-night options outside of the gates it's unreal.
