The cost of two plane tickets, this past May from Kansas City to Orlando (via Atlanta) was $462. Cost to park at KCI was $5 a day (times 10 days)
$512

1325 miles x 66 gallons of gas x $2.20 per gallon = $145.00
One night in motel = $75.00
Meals for two people for two days = $50 (just a guess)

$270 if you use your own car. However each time we drove, we rented a car. If you add $200 for a rental car, it comes out pretty close. My wife really doesn't like to fly, and I don't mind the drive too much, so the drive is probably our #1 choice.

We are in the same boat.... Plus with all the extra security at the Airports it is nearly faster for us to drive anyway.... :)

According to Yahoo! Directions. If we drove it'd be 2880.6 Miles and 44 Hours and 19 Minutes to get there. I'll settle for the 5-6 hour flight. :D

i dont mind the drive either........ just bad luck on that particular road trips. dead battery in jacksonville and the other was a flat tire. i guess it beats having those problems in a plane.

217.38 MILES here/3 hours and 25 minutes! On my way to work, I have to take the Florida Turnpike headed North...I'm always so tempted to keep going to WDW. I hate reality!

Exactly 90 miles from my house to the Wilderness Lodge.

Since I have to take I-4, it can take over 2 hours, 3 dead stop traffic jams, 47 expletives muttered under my breath so the kids don't hear, 17 grey hairs and a bottle of Tums.

Not sure about the mileage or anything- but it's about 18 hours from Texas and yes, we do drive- flying is too expensive for all of us and I hate to fly....I avoid it as much as humanly possible...

There's the distance between airports -- though actual travel time is affected by a number of factors from aircraft type to weather. :)

Also -- an AU is an "astronomical unit" and is defined as the average distance from the Earth to the Sun, or about 93,000,000 miles.

I didn't know there were that many hours in a day! What kinda job do you have? And what route do you take to WDW?

I work in radio, so that explains that.

I take kind of a FUBAR route to WDW, but I like it. US-27 at home to I-185 in LaGrange. I-185 through Columbus to GA-520 in Fort Benning. GA-520 to I-75 in Tifton. I-75 to FL-44 south of Ocala. FL-44 to US 27 (Again!). US-27 to Hwy 192. Hwy 192 to Sherbeth Road. Sherbeth Road to Osceola Pkwy and all things Disney.

i guess that since they are twice as far..... they might get a higher cruising altitude and maybe a bigger jet.

In miles - About 4,200
In hours - About 11

Ditto. Add 6 hours at MCO to collect bags, load bags, collect bags again, wait a looooong time for immigration (I can understand departing flights post 9/11 but hey, we`re already here!) and then queue with dozens of others for the one person giving out hire cars to finally call for some help.

Oh - and then find they`ve redesigned and expanded the Orlando road system again, which usually means ending up on I-4 at 5pm.

It`s still worth it!

We live in Covington, GA! It is about 20 min to 2 hrs east of Atlanta depending on traffic! Good thing I do not work in ATL!

Where's Franklin! Sorry, I am lazy after the holiday (which I had to work during  ) and I guess I could look it up!

Hello neighbor!! We also live in Covington. What a small world. I'm not sure of the distance to WDW but we go down Hwy 36 and turn on some small roads (not sure of the names but one of them goes past Indian Springs) and wind up on I-75 in Forsyth. Is this the route you take? I want to say it's about 430 something miles but like I said I'm not sure.

We usually go out 36 over to I-75 but last year on the way back I found that route home and it saved a lot of time. The distance from Covington to WDW is some where between 430-460 depending on the route!

When is your next trip back to the WORLD?
