Has anyone ever heard of the City Musuem in St.Louis?

Well it's a junkyard on steroids. Its' amazing, fun, and just art you can play on.

Just the entirety of this whole place is astounding!

This is my "disneyworld", and we're leaving wednesday.

Just imagine if Disney ever had the balls to do something this cool!

I know the place well. We live about 30 minutes away! The place really IS crazy... Tunnels under the ground to crawl through, places to hide and just people watch... Places you're pretty sure you aren't supposed to be, but apparently ARE supposed to be... A SEVEN STORY slide... A floor with a really cool "hands on" aquarium, plus sharks, oddities (two-headed snakes, etc), an albino sea turtle.... The list goes on and on.

I recommend going there late on a weekend night. They turn off the lights in the whole place, and you crawl around and explore with your flashlight.

I've talked to the owner of the place before, and to their knowledge, there's nowhere else like it in the world. They've had representatives from all over the planet, literally, to see the place. He named the Gugenheim (sp?) specifically.

It's also really cool that they encourage the grown-ups to get involved and crawl and explore with their kids, too. And it's a heck of a workout.

It does look really cool and a fun place to see, but there is only one problem I am so far away from it. I think if I have free time this summer I might visit it because like you said it does look really really cool.

Ah, so many field trips at the City Museum....Girl Scouts do a sleep over there as well....we are about 30 minutes away. It is a great little gem in St. Louis. Long day at City Museum and dinner at Fitz's Rootbeer...nothing better...except maybe a Card's game.

Hey Buried are you on the Illinois or Missouri side??

I still don't see the Disney tie in here. Tell me again why this is in WDW Parks General Discussion and not Chit Chat ?

If anyone is actually planning a trip to St. Louis here are a few things to check out beyond the City Museum.

Make sure you try St. Louis style pizza, Fortel's is my personal favorite, gooey butter cake, and Ted Drew's frozen custard on old route 66. If you're out late, like past 2 am, stop by Courtesy Diner for a slinger.

Do not miss The Arch and the museum underneath it. Just up the river is a great entertainment district--the Landing--with restaurants, shops, and casinos. The Old Courthouse and Old Cathedral are right there for architecture and history buffs.

Check out the Zoo, Art Museum, History Museum, and Science Center in Forest Park. They are all free for the basic entrance and the park itself is beautiful. If you like used record stores, music venues, and cool shops hit the U. City Loop.

If you are into beer take the brewery tour or head out to Grant's Farm for some history and the Clydesdales.

Feel free to ask me any questions, STL is the one place I know more about than WDW.

I used to live less than a mile from the stadium. I could walk down for a game anytime and I heard the fireworks for homeruns and wins from my living room.
