Disney's vero beach resort

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am interested in possibly staying @ The Vero Beach resort, but am wondering how to get there? I am assuming that there is no Magical Express. Which Airport to use? How long does it take to travel between said airport and the resort? How much does it cost to be transported from airport to resort. I am hung up on Disney resorts because of the ease of travel, even when traveling without the kids (wife and I had a long weekend to Beach Club last spring), many flights offered to Orlando, Magical express, etc. Vero Beach resort seems to be less convenient. Am I wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Not old, just vintage.
There is no Disney provided transportation to Vero Beach. Really the only way to do it is to rent a car. That cost will vary greatly due to the size of vehicle, how long you have it for, etc. I believe Orlando is still the best airport to fly in to in order to get there. Palm Beach International might be a little bit closer but more limited flights. I think the drive took us about 2 hours from Orlando airport.

The area where the Vero Beach resort is located is still kind of a developing area. There are some great local restaurants (Squid Lips is my favorite), some shopping, and a few touristy things (Kennedy Space Center is also about an hour away) but the main attraction at Disney's Vero Beach is the resort itself. Lots of activities on the schedule, a nice pool, a beach, and some really great rooms. It's not overly Disneyfied but the Disney level of service is there and you know that you are staying in the best possible resort in the area.

I don't know if it is a place I could spend an entire week (I know people do it all the time) but I could definitely add it on to the end of an existing Disney World trip. I can't think of any better way to unwind after several days running around in the parks.

I would definitely rent a car to get there. That way you can adventure outside of the resort for some other activities and restaurants. We like hanging out at Capt'n Hirams in Sebatian (about 10 minutes away). Also check out the treasure museum in Sebatian as well. It will change the way you walk up and down the beach. If you head into Vero Beach, check out the Red Onion Eatery for good sandwiches and the Riverside Cafe for good food and entertainment. I hear the Tides Restaurant is pretty good too. You can also rent Jet Skis. If you aren't going to rent a car, you might want to look into renting scooters for the week.
