“In addition to the outlined changes, Axios is reporting that Disney will remove the auto-play disclaimer before some of Disney’s movies that contain outdated depictions or stereotypes. Here’s an example of the disclaimer that would play before certain movies. This will be removed completely and replaced with a disclaimer in the written details section of the movies that it applies to.”

That is dumb if this is true. It'll just lead back to removal of older content. As its not like society is now going to accept things that were previously deemed inappropriate just because the warning was removed.

Skimmed the changes but looks like the original text said “negative stereotypes included” while the new text boils down to “negative stereotypes may be included.” The connotative difference is “you should be offended” vs. “sorry if this offends you.”

I think that is better than removing it completely which is the way it came across in that article. So its just rewording it to say the same thing but to be less impactful for those that were offended by it being there is the first place.

If its removing the message completely then yes its dumb and agree its weak.

However..... if its just changing the message, as someone pointed out, that its to be more sensitive to those that never found fault in the first place, then its fine in my opinion. Some will praise this as Disney caving to the anti-DEI crowd, but not realizing it actually makes it more "inclusive" then previously written, so its a win. :)

Yes, but this article was specific to the D+ messages played in-front of certain content, so the focus was on that in this thread.

In general however, if their changes are effectively "cosmetic" in nature while still providing the end result what of "Reimagine Tomorrow" goals were, then its still a win. They look like they are removing DEI from the company to placate the anti-DEI groups while still having the same end result overall, ie still progressing the company forward.

Sorry I’ve been mad about this for a few days now and have looking for a good place to complain about it but no one was talking about it in any of the threads until now

I'd wait and see what specific changes are going to be made, I suspect it won't be much in terms of real change in the other direction. As I mentioned if its just "cosmetic" in nature in this isn't a huge loss, just looks like a win for the anti-DEI crowd but with no actual teeth.
