I can't handle it, I wish I could have just read this and moved on but I can't.

What you two are spewing is what creates divide, and is flat out disgusting that you are trying to make this political. You can't even stand together with people in tragedy, you have to turn and ugly situation even uglier.

This country didn't create that terrorist. A HATRED of how we live is what fuels them. HOW ALL OF US LIVE. We are in this together, and to say we are not is handing them a victory on a silver platter.

Ironic. Considering how on 9/11 "We stand united" was the phrase of the day. It happened again in the early morning of 6/12. It seems that only one group is allowed to hurt. The nation, apparently, can't stand with them.

The motive behind the Orlando attacks, and this was confirmed by the shooter's father, was homophobia. Islamic fundamentalism is merely the justification he used to rationalize his homophobia. It's the latter that people are latching onto, not the former. Let's not pretend that homophobia is some sort of thing that's new in this country, or that it is only practiced by Islamic fundamentalists.
Did you know that in terms of Islamic Radicalization, to which he publicly professed his allegiance, homosexuals are lower than even the infidel? Doesn't matter race, nationality, religion...anything.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that homophobia isn't a thing. You're trying to merge the two issues of domestic homophobia and Islamic extremism, and you can't in this case. If you would like to discuss them on their own merits I think you'd be getting more support.

But to continue to suggest the "non gays" can't grieve is irresponsible and attention seeking.

It's the minority who want to stand alone, a few of that minority are on this very thread, but I'd say it's still the minority.

Taking a risk but here goes. I'm an orthodox Christian who believes that marriage is between a man and woman. But that doesn't mean I don't grieve for the loss of life and the injured in that nightclub. Men and women lost their partners. Parents lost their children. Brothers lost sisters and sisters lost brothers. I grieve because the loss of life and injuries inflicted was horrific and that I fully recognize there is a war on our way of life. It's not just homophobia. It's hatred for our entire way of life and Jews, Christians, and anyone else they consider "infidels" around the world.

And this is an example of "the only good" that I was talking about earlier in the thread. That humanity exists, that people want to help and grieve, even if they have a different way of life, political views, gender, religion., or sexuality.
This is why the terrorists will never defeat us. We are united against evil.

The company may not, but individual Entertainment venues from all the theme parks are showing support on social media. It's cliché, but a lot of the gay community LOVES theme parks, and a lot of them LOVE Entertainment. I doubt there are any theme park performers who are more than two degrees separated from one of the victims.

When I realized how big this attack was I immediately thought of my former co-workers and friends from over the years in WDW and USF Entertainment. Even my family members were asking about them out of worry. Luckily none of them were involved but all day I've had a heavy heart and I just want to cry. I still feel like Orlando is home and I can't comprehend what's happened.

I'm the opposite. I don't understand WHY people have to flock to social media to show support. Actions speak much louder than any words. I'd be more concerned with what Disney is doing for their employees affected by this than some tweet they made

There are people that don't use any medium of Social Media and they are still able to express their sadness of this terrible incident. Then there are those that do use social media and make it about themselves vs the horrific tragedy.

Nowhere did I even remotely suggest this. The fact this massacre occurred at an LGBT nightclub is significant and I, personally, find it offensive that people are trying to downplay that significance. Yes its biased, yes its probably the shell shock of the event clouding my ability to rationally think. This psycho specifically sought to throw our community into turmoil, to try and silence our love and pride. That some people are trying to minimize the importance of the location of this terrorist attack aggravates me. There are plenty of other places in Orlando where he could have inflicted carnage, yet he chose a prominent gay club. So don't you dare sit behind your keyboard and tell me I'm being selfish.
Easy there, fella. First, I wasn't even talking to you. I was talking to @Matt_Black who's logic seems to be scattered all around. But I'll ask again, show me where anyone is downplaying the significance of the who and where. I can't find it. That you keep screaming out that people are, it kind of makes it seem like you are injecting yourself into it. So basically, the more you keep saying that people don't think that a gay bar was attacked isn't important, even though no one has said that, makes me think you're a little selfish.

I find it EXTREMELY classy that universal closed forbidden journey.

Unconfirmed, but I've heard NBCU quietly offered to pay travel expenses for family of TMs killed or injured in the attack. A class act. Meanwhile as of this hour, outside a statement from the CEO, no public comment from WDW.

The best analogy I can think of is when the AFL cancelled games following the Kennedy assassination but the NFL did not.

Disney wants no part of this story..... but they're about to be a focus with multiple stories coming out about how WDW was scouted.

Good god, people, GIVE IT A REST. This forum is NOT the place to have the discussion this thread has sunk to. Discussions on the killer's motives, if/why certain individuals may have been targeted because of their religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc., belong on news organizations discussion boards, like MSNBC, NOT HERE.

@Matt_Black, who the hell cares if/when/how Disney officially responds in a time and manner you so clearly deem they must? And you think they are somehow deficient because they didn't tweet about it within the first 12 hours? Like most of us, they were probably trying to wrap their head around what had happened. Besides, everyone knew that a certain someone would fire up his Twitter account and shoot his mouth off. It is usually more prudent, and adult, to wait until more info is known..... Especially, as others have commented, the likelihood exists that members of your corporate family may be victims of this madman.

I am sad and sick and heartbroken that this event happened in the state I live in and a town I visit frequently. Let's try not to turn this political, please, for once.

My thoughts are with all those touched by this tragedy. Hug your loved ones, friends, neighbors, as we once again learn how quickly they can leave us.

Peace

If true that's pretty incredible. Such an act of compassion.
