Disney's Punishment of Honest Media/Reviews

While I don't follow The Trackers as closely compared to MouseSteps. What video from the past caused so much controversy that Disney and Universal kicked them off the media list?

someone posted it on another page of this thread. They made some questionable / offensive “jokes” and kept the videos up.

They issued an apology video, but a group of people kept reaching out to Disney and Universal until they got pulled from media events.

But they are starting to get invited again.

I suspect it’s a lot easier to get back into Disney’s good graces after making offensive “jokes” then it is after leveling fair but unwanted criticism.

No, Len is absurdly bitter and has been for years.
Are you familiar with the Disney Dish Podcast? As a longtime lessener, he never comes across as bitter. But being critical and honest when it comes to Disney and the Parks in general.

If you want bitter, remember ford91exploder?

He was infamous on this site for being extremely bitter and negative. To the point that he actually got banned from this site a few years back. Times like this makes me wonder how he would feel about Chapek being the current CEO of Disney.

When you have decided in advance that everything anyone says who attended an invited event that isn’t negative is a lie you are just as much a part of the problem. The Disney Internet community has turned itself inside out insisting that everyone who attends these event is lying about everything they say because they aren’t negative enough. Somewhere along the way someone decided that honest = negative, and if you aren’t negative you’re not being honest. That has now reached fever pitch levels where unless the reviewer is spewing negativity they must be ignored and vilified because they are lying. That is why this ‘community’ has such a toxic reputation.

This isn’t true. People are consuming news critically - which is particularly important because, as this thread shows, Disney is taking very significant steps to distort the news people consume. It’s a microcosm of much larger, much more destructive societal trends. You and certain other posters are annoyed by this critical analysis because you want to believe and you want others to believe the corporate spin. As WDWs performance declines more and more sharply, the drive by some posters to attack critical analysis will become more and more strident.

And even more fundamentally, if a generally trusted source like Marni or Len shows up with a positive take, people will accept it. You know that, too.

By the way, as a big fan of Universal, it’s only fair to note they almost certainly do the same sort of manipulative things as Disney. Because their fan base is significantly smaller and less… fanatical, their dedicated army of vloggers and assorted online ballyhooers far less multitudinous, and the general direction of their parks more positive, it seems less egregious. But Comcast is no more virtuous then Disney.
