Disney's "PartyFizz" -Promoting Little Alcoholics?

I think it is harmless.....
They already have the other grape juice in the champagne bottles..They have for years..and I have not heard of any problems.

While having Disney associated with it may draw more kids to wanting it...does not mean they are wanting alcohol..they want the Disney Drink with the Disney label...

Thats my thoughts though...

I think that's an absurd notion. They talk like the biggest problem is that kids are going to accidentally grab some champagne instead of the Fizzywhatever. In which case, the parents are either really irrisponsible, or the kids have no taste buds, because they are going to know INSTANTLY that their drink is not their beloved Disney soda.

I don't think this will contribute to alcoholism any more than drinking SODA will contribute to alcoholism. I mean, come on. People can be ridiculous.

Yeah I think that is too harsh. I mean most likely parents are not going to buy this for an everyday drink for kids. I know on holidays and for New Years especially we always have bottles sparkling cider or grape juice for the kids. Its a special treat, they feel a little important drinking from a champagne glass, not cause they are pretending it is alcohol but because it is a cool glass that they are usually never allowed to use. Even without the glass, it is like a "juice soda" as my son called it last New Years, so it is just a treat for them. I dont think it promotes them to want to drink real alcohol.
Silly... but thats just my take.

Oh pleeeezzze :brick:

If we didn't make such a big issue out of it in this country, the attraction and use of alcohol defining "adult" would not be such a problem.

.....goes out and buys some candy cigarettes....

All I know is, I used to "smoke" candy cigarettes when I was a kid, and didn't turn out to be a smoker...

Wonder what it tastes like?

I really don't see a problem with this. As has already been said, I think that for kids it's more about the fancy bottle and packaging than it is about the alcohol.

Also, the statement about kids acidentally drinking the wrong thing is absurd in my opinion. I can remember accidentally grabbing an adult's drink once as a kid and thinking I was going to die from the taste. To this day, there are certain types of alcohol that I can't stand because of that experience.

Me too. Only I did turn out to be a smoker (quit years ago). But a kid's day-to-day experience watching what their parents do will have more impact than anything.

I think the issue has been blown a little out of proportion, but I am somewhat surprised that Disney have chosen to be involved with something that even has the potential to cause such controversy. I thought they would be keen to avoid even the potential of negative publicity.

Having said that - I fully understand the arguments of those who disapprove. Alcohol is the cause of huge problems for society, arguably more so than illicit drugs; this is certainly true in my experience. I am not anti-alcohol, I enjoy a drink myself, I am just aware and in some agreement with those who urge caution and responsibility around the use and publicity of alcohol.

I think it's a stretch. It depends more on the context and the example set by the parents.

I always got sparkling grape juice on holidays, in a wine glass. It didn't turn me into an alcoholic. I didn't even start drinking until I hit 21.

I went back to the grape juice when I got pregnant. Still love that stuff :slurp:
