Disney's "New" Park

Just taking a guess here, because I've rode the Hulk as well, but I think Hulk would fit in there pretty good as an extreme coaster. They have 18 roller coasters in that park, but would Hulk be any worse than, say, 5th in that park? I am thinking about Millennium, Top Thrill Dragster for sure would be ahead of it. But others would be for sure more thrilling?

The best part of the Hulk ride for me was the large boom that could be heard. But when you are ridding it you don't hear it.

I heard a very far-fetched rumor that once SWL opens, the land from the launch bay all the way to Rock'n'Roller Coaster would become a Monstropolis area with the Laugh Floor in Magic Kingdom being moved to where the launch bay is now (considering it is a mostly screen based attraction and can easily be replicated) and RnR being rethemed to a door coaster in the Monsters Inc factory. Unlikely, but still an interesting rumor.
I have also herd this.....

By "boom" are you referring to the characteristic "B&M roar"?

I heard it the roar was from the Poly wheels that were specifically picked for the Hulk ride. Its not due to the spine like most coasters that roar. I love the sound, I just wish I was able to hear it while riding.

The way I heard it, Bolliger and Mabillard "roar" is indeed created by the box-shaped spine that their coaster tracks utilize. Most "nicer" theme parks opt to have B&M fill the the track sections with foam and the support columns with sand to deaden the noise somewhat- Dueling Dragons/Dragon Challenge was sand-filled, but Hulk was intentionally left empty to enhance the themeing. However, during the 2016 refurb, as I understand it, Hulk's track was foam/sand filled, but a recorded "roaring" Hulk sound effect was added during launch.

Hulk was widely regarded as one of the top coasters for quite sometime after it opened.

It’s easy to say “it’s nothing to me now”...but that lacks context.

Mine train is nothing...midway Mania is nothing if we’re honest. In five years...flight of passage will be nothing.

Doesn’t mean they weren’t interesting at one time.

I'm wondering what they'll do after these updates. I mean, as I've said in a previous post, this park is for sure turning into a direct answer to Islands of Adventure rather than Universal Studios, so will they have to rework the rest of the park too? It'd unfortunate Universal is sitting on Marvel - Disney would do so much more with it as a land in or two in DHS. And I'm saying this as an Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man fanboy. I honestly would not mind if all the Hollywood stuff left.

Sorry compared to other coasters, the Hulk is not world class. It's an average inversion (edited) coaster. Nothing exciting or earth shattering. Remember I have Cedar Point in my back yard, so I am quite picky. I was utterly disappointed with the Hulk the first time I rode it wondering why people thought it was so amazing. It's also kind of old compared to other coasters, so very behind the times with technology so to speak. The dragons coasters were okay as well but paled considerably in comparison to other coasters of that type.

I'm not that far from Cedar Point either lol. I don't do coasters on that level, the most I'll do is Everest, but I will say that Hulk does seem to be a favorite amongst those that do Cedar Point and Universal coasters, so to say that Hulk is average might be an overstatement.

But then again, I'm biased. I've been to both many times (Universal and Cedar Point) and I just have little value for the roller coast. And I like Disney more than either.

Disney would do no more with Marvel than Universal has. Spider-man is still a top tier ride in the world while Disney use of their Marvel product elsewhere has been poor reskins, dance parties, and a coaster.

Disney would totally do more. Look I love Spider-Man, my favorite Universal attractions and possibly my top 5 Orlando, but it's one ride... they haven't done anything over there and shall continue not to. And I can't blame them... giving publicity to you greatest competitors product? Nah. Hulk is 'just' a coaster, so they have one extraordinary ride. If Disney had them, I have no doubt that they would make a land as impressive as Star Wars at DHS. WDW is their most prized resort, and Marvel is comparable to Star Wars in popularity if it doesn't surpass it.

So basically we have no proof, but Universal wastes it even though the land was built in the OG build and does well and they have other more pressing upgrades.

Yeah I am making a theory, I have no clue as to what they would do factually speaking, nor do you. However, I have a strong feelong they'd do better than Universal. Every expansive land they're working on is impressive. So why would Marvel be different than Star Wars? They haven't even done anything major with Marvel on this continent, so comparisons to other Marvel attractions is unnecessary. I guess we'll see what they do with Cali but whatever it is, at least it'll be new. I have a very hard time believing that Uni will do another major attraction for Marval anytime soon. They seem to care about the IP that makes them money at the time - hence what we have today at Universal Studios.

Really? Among my friends it is just average. As I said we walked away expecting more, but we are pretty darn big fans of all types. I'm halfway between CP and Kings Island. I can ride coasters like that all day and multiple times in a row. I have a large group of friends who do all 3 (CP, USF & WDW) so we compare coasters often. I think the end result is it is far too short and compared to other coasters the speed is lacking. I love CP for coasters, WDW for theme and USF just kind of hangs there for me in a weird place - not thrilling enough and yet not themed well with little diversity in rides.

I'm likely highly biased towards coasters in the Ohio parks though. It takes a lot to rank a coaster from a non-coaster based park high up on my list.

Hmm... so do you enjoy Everest or Big Thunder? They aren't as extreme as upper level Cedar Point coasters but they're fantastic rides.

I admit I am a bit annoyed by twisting of what I've said many times now. Never once did I say you cannot enjoy a coaster if it isn't all that high up on list. Never did, and never will. In fact I repeated have said (ad nauseum) that you can enjoy them, you just cannot classify them as "world class" when there are so many above and beyond them.

So yes, I enjoy them. Would I say they compare to the bigger & meaner rides up north? Nope and it would be silly to. Doesn't mean you cannot enjoy them. Heck I enjoy the old wooden ride at the Columbus Zoo (formerly Wyandot Lake ) when we go to the zoo. It's only 1.5 minutes and goes like 25mph. Now it's the oldest wooden coaster in Ohio (after the Big Dipper closed), but nothing to scream home about. Still fun and something we do every visit.

Based on the brittle fences of Toy Story Land, I'm assuming their next park will be entirely biodegradable, lasting a week at most.

Relax, I'm not twisting your words, all I read was your first post. My point is that Everest and Bih Thunder are world class rides and coasters even if they aren't the biggest, fastest coasters. It's other stuff that counts. Just because Cedar Points rides are faster doesn't mean they're any better. All I'm saying. Lol
