I've got a hunch I can see what's developing here.

DHS is being completely re-themed. It's becoming a "new" park. TSL and SWL will instantly become the new draw. RnR, ToT and Sunset Blvd are next. That area will become "Marvel Land" (yes I know about the contracts).

ToT in CA is now Guardians, RnR in DLP is being rethemed to Marvel. They probably won't announce this for a bit, until at least until D23 in 2019. They're not going to take down 2 E ticket rides until SWL opens.

I would think the area would include the 2 E ticket rides, Sunset Blvd and the area housing Launch Bay and Little Mermaid. Launch Bay serves no purpose after SWL opens. They're not going to have meet and greets for SW characters half way across the park from SWL. Maybe a Marvel show building with a M&G?

So, they're going to "re-theme" DHS from "The Hollywood that never was" to "Let's make money with this thing!"...

I heard a very far-fetched rumor that once SWL opens, the land from the launch bay all the way to Rock'n'Roller Coaster would become a Monstropolis area with the Laugh Floor in Magic Kingdom being moved to where the launch bay is now (considering it is a mostly screen based attraction and can easily be replicated) and RnR being rethemed to a door coaster in the Monsters Inc factory. Unlikely, but still an interesting rumor.

Amazing.................Disney uses the Star Wars franchise as its own personal dish rag and manages to somehow ruin basically all of our childhoods with the new movies. Now there is the possibility that ToT leaves too?

Disney wants parks with all of its IPs. If the Fox acquisition goes through, then they own Avatar outright. I believe CBS owns the TZ rights.

BTW I agree with your SW sentiment.

DHS will soon be Disney's answer to Universal's Islands of Adventure. And I think that's great. Personally I think a theme of Hollywood is limited and a bit boring, and the idea is kind of unfitting since the magic of Hollywood and the wonder of how movies are made isn't existant anymore. So a Hollywood park should focus on the films themselves rather that how and where they are made.

Honestly, DHS is where I actually love the idea of IP overload.

With all the money being spent on the parks I don't think anything big will happen at HS for awhile, maybe not until 2023. There may be some retheming that will happen but that would be about it.

That's what it feels like to me. Just think of how much money TSL and SWL costs. Then imagine someone saying to Corporate, "DHS need more money because it's so far behind in development." ... a dozen spit takes ensue.

I've said this before, but it's unfortunate that the MK is having its 50th and WDW feels compelled to spend a lot of money there. The MK doesn't need a lot of money spent there, it should all go to the other parks. Yes, I know people want to make their special park more special, but, wouldn't it be better if the other parks were upgraded so much that they were just as special?

Assuming this wasn't a deadpan troll of all the bad rumors... ;)

Monstropolis was once an active consideration. Then it got shelved. Only one internet personality, Jim Hill, keeps mentioning it as a possibility while all our insiders say it's dead (for now). Other than TSL and SWL, the most DHS will see for then next handful of years is one new ride and a refresh of some of the shows, no new lands.

WDW doesn't move rides... try justifying that cost to corporate... unless there is a massive reworking project. Tomorrowland is going through a very light reworking and moving MLF isn't part of the deal. Insiders say it's staying.

And finally, it is *impossible* to retheme RnRC to a MI 'door coaster.' The doors in the movie hang from a track. The proposed coaster had the train cars hanging from a track. The RnRC isn't that type of coaster. It can't be rethemed to a hanging coaster, it would have to be demolished and rebuilt. That ain't happening.

Not quite.
Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment still would own a portion of the film. They already get their own cut of the Pandora merch.
Full of 3D simulators? Pass. If I want 'adult rides' I'd rather have real coasters. Universal even lacks in that area. Theirs are okay but not fantastic.

Hulk is still world class, but man do I already miss the dragons.

Imagine a whole park from Disney following the original Islands of Adventure model.

I stand corrected...albeit...a very small portion (which will probably bought out shortly)

I don't know if he would ever want to sell.
Maintaining even partial ownership grants him de facto creative control, and ensures that Lightstorm will receive a portion of any effects work to be done for potential expansions. Plus, with new movies coming out, letting go his stake in the merchandising would be seen as a loss of confidence in his own output.

Cameron will hold onto Lightstorm at least through Avatar 5.

Avatar 2 will be seen as a nice reboot of the franchise, but fans will complain it's just more of the same.

Avatar 3 will totally shake things up and fans will be upset it's so different.

Avatar 4 will try to split the difference and do OK at the box office but will fail critically due to a hostile fan base.

Avatar 5 will be an epic Box Office dud despite, 20 years later, being hailed as the best in the series. But before that reassessment occurs, Cameron will despondently sell Lightstorm to Disney.

Man....that really sounds familiar. There's been an awakening - have you felt it? If you haven't....surely your wallet is beginning to tremble.....

Light - storm? or Saber?.....History may repeat...go figure.

Sorry compared to other coasters, the Hulk is not world class. It's an average inversion (edited) coaster. Nothing exciting or earth shattering. Remember I have Cedar Point in my back yard, so I am quite picky. I was utterly disappointed with the Hulk the first time I rode it wondering why people thought it was so amazing. It's also kind of old compared to other coasters, so very behind the times with technology so to speak. The dragons coasters were okay as well but paled considerably in comparison to other coasters of that type.
