Disney's Magical Express

I am going to Disney 9/11/05 until 9/17/05. I signed up for the Magical Express to take me to and from the resort via Orlando International Airport.

I assume the Mears people are providing the complimentary transportation (which I am not too thrilled about -- I have horror stories about them). I know Disney will send me luggage tags in the mail, but what will happen if they forget a suitcase or something? What happens if someone else picks it up? Can we wait for our luggage? Does anyone have info on this? Also, what are state of the art motor coaches?

Anyone who has info, please let me know! Thank you in advance :) !

Well others have said that Disney has been successfully doing this with the Cruise Line and are just expanding a program that works!!! I hope this works well also!!! I have almost always taken Mears but gotten my own luggage so this is one less thing for me to do!!!! I am looking foward to it!!! Belle

We're probably flying to Walt Disney World for the first time in May. We will definitey be utilizing Disney's Magical Express if we go. I'll write a trip report for sure while I'm there because I should have my laptop by then. Hopefully, this system will work fine.

I have a quick question about the Magical Express services.

My sister and I are going in May and we wanted to utilize the Magical Express. But when we called they said they would only book it 30 days in advance. I thought this was odd because the WDW website said you could start booking it as of January 2nd even though the service didn't begin until May. Since we are DVC members, we talked to them. Does anyone know why the Disney rep told us this? Should we try calling the regular Disney reservation number instead of DVC?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I'm also going down in May and would like to utilize this bus system. Unfortunately we're flying with Southwest and they are not participating in this system. I think I read somewhere that we could still use the bus. Can anyone confirm that and if so I guess we'd have to get our own luggage and bring it with us on the bus?

this is correct from what I understand and actually the Disney people may be able to get your bags for you as well. They simply cannot print out your boarding pass as they can with the participating airlines!! Belle

Please try to call DVC again, unfortuately you got a poorly trained agent. If your reservation was booked with points through DVC only they can book your Disney's Magical Express (DME) transfer. Central Reservations (407-W-DISNEY) cannot access any reservation booked by DVC points.

I can...
The short answer..

Yes you can fully use and enjoy Disney's Magical Express regardless of your airline. :king:

The long answer...

Disney will begin two difference services for guest flying to Orlando for a Walt Disney World vacation.

Disney's Magical Express is a complementary ground transfer from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to your Disney Resort and back. Approximately 10 days before you depart Disney will send you special luggage tags to place on your bags. When you arrive at MCO you will be welcomed by a Disney Cast Member, and escorted to your state of the art motor coach (an air conditioned bus with TVs to watch a video on the way to WDW) Your luggage will be collected by Disney and delivered to your room. This service is open to anyone staying at a Disney owned and operated resort, who is arriving to and departing from the Orlando International Airport. You can use any Airline you wish.

Secondly, Disney will offer the Disney Resort Airline Check-In Service. If you are traveling on American Airlines, Delta, Song, Continental, United Airlines, or Ted Airlines you can check-in your luggage for your return flight from your resort lobby and recieve your boarding pass for your flight. This way you can bypass check-in at the Airport.

Both services are currently free and each service is independant of the other.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

ok, what happens if you get in late? We are looking at a june trip and the day we arrive it will be 7pm. Does your luggage travel with you or will it catch up to you in the morning? The CM I talked to couldn't give me an answer.

well i know as far as mears ,as long as you have a ticket late or not thats not your fault ....mears is running constantly!!!! so i really don't think disney would make their service of having their own buses picking you up at the airport any less!!! well at least i hope... we'll see. :) :)

From the information I have been told, baring any problems with the airline's delivery to bagage claim, your luggage should appear in your room within an hour of your arrival to your resort.

When you book your DME transfer you will need to give your flight information. Disney will used this to ensure your transportation to your Resort will be ready and available for you when your flight arrives, regardless if it is early or late.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

Who do you sign up for the bus service with? You have to call Disney directly?

To take advantage of Disney's Magical Express service, you need to be staying at a Disney owned and operated resort, and flying into and out of the Orlando International Airport. This service is free during the "Happiest Celebration On Earth" from May 5, 2005 - October 2006.

To add this service to your reservation, you need to contact the source that booked your room reservation. If you booked directly with Disney (you called 1-407-W-DISNEY or visited www.disneyworld.com) you can call Disney. If you used a travel agent, (including an internet TA) you must contact them to add this service to your reservation.

Hope this Helps! :sohappy:
