Disney's Loan Ranger Trailer

Not saying it won't make money but will be tough to bring in enough to break even. It will have to make 500 million to make a profit. I love armie hammer though he should be the next batman. I hope it does good just not sure if it will be. I can name at least 10 movies this year that will out profit this one.
Humor me…

I'm skeptical about some of the others, too, but those two on the list really stood out. I hope it does well, too.
Yes some of them are just like the Lone Ranger but those movies also don't have a 250 million dollar budget. My argument is on profit not how much it makes at the box office it will make over 500 million but I needs to hit that to break even with marketing to. Huge gamble for Disney on a older property that younger audiences don't know to much about I love westerns so I am for it. The movies that break 800 millions needs to be big with all ages.

I LOVED Despicable Me. I'll go to see the sequel...as long as it doesn't focus too much time on the Minions. They're funny, but they're just background characters and should stay that way.

The Lone Ranger movie looks interesting. Might check it out. More intriguing was the Oz trailer...much as I dislike the obvious references (ripoff?) to the witches of "Wicked", if the story is solid, I might see that movie too.

I wouldn't use the word "ripoff"
The Oz movie is an expansion/reimagining of the whole Oz universe. Since the new movie is sequentially a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz, it makes sense to incorporate new areas of that world, with the story of Wicked being incredibly successful and popular.
Mostly what I'm not sure about is James Franco. The guy got out acted by a CGI chimpanzee in Planet of the Apes.

There were four witches in the Oz books. The "Wicked" books and musical just used what already existed with some literary license.
As far as "The Lone Ranger" goes, it looks like it's being marketed better than "John Carter" was, not that that is difficult. Personally, I was pumped about both of them but what I've seen of Lone Ranger, apart from Depp being in it, it looks pretty mediocre. John Carter, if it would have had a better lead actor (and Hammer isn't exactly a riveting actor for the Ranger) and some kind of selling done for it, could have had a chance.
"Oz" could be GREAT as long as it stays away from modern dialogue, references, sarcasm and attempts at "smart-" humor. I've seen some of that in trailers and it is discouraging. It takes place in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century so keep the dialogue real.

Everyone needs to see John Carter before criticizing it... it was honestly one of my favorite films of 2012. It can't be judged it by the trailers alone. Disney's marketing was the failure, not Andrew Stanton's movie.
I didn't see John Carter until it came out on Blu Ray. My opinion of it was I found it to be just average. Definitely not as bad as some made it out to be. But, not a movie that I'd really care to ever watch again.

The simple fact of Depp being in the movie will make it more successful than Carter. Even if the movie is terrible, Deppmfans will go out in droves to see it. I feel exactly like you do. Ranger looks quite mediocre, aside from another wacky Johnny Depp performance. Will most likely wait till I'm able to see it at home.

John carter was a really good it was very bad marketing. They also spent to much money on it.

Don't forget Helena Bonham Carter! She and Johnny Depp seemed joined at the hip these days.

But yeah, I think it's proof that everything Johnny Depp touches isn't, infact, instant gold.
