Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

They're saying "delete this" because they think it looks bad. Like when people say "you still have time to delete this." They're expressing disapproval of the post
I don't think so, these are pro-Mermaid people.

I can’t see what you’re referring to. Do you have a screenshot?

They’re saying delete it because whoever is running the Twitter account posted very awkward photos of Halle, particularly the one one the right. I agree, DELETE.

Oh in that case, I disagree. The highlight of the video clip is Halle's facial reactions. She shows a ton of personality, including that sarcastic little eyeroll she gives Sebastian.

This is why I think the crowded May/June calendar isn’t doing Disney any favors. They have to promote, sequentially, GOTG3 (which they’ll stop doing now that TLM is on the horizon), TLM (5/26), then shift gears suddenly to Elemental (6/16, which has had virtually no advertising yet and probably has terrible awareness), then ramp up for Indy 5 (6/30, and has already had a ton more marketing as compared to Elemental.

Disney has a finite amount of promotional dollars and employees (big hit in the layoffs). There’s also a finite amount of marketing space and box office dollars to compete with, especially when you have competition in the form of Fast X, Spider-Man, The Flash, Transformers, and Mission Impossible all coming in the same time frame.

Very crowded, finite resources, competing studios under Disney umbrella. Elemental is getting left out in the elements.
Elemental is the closing film at the Cannes Film Festival, which is a pretty big deal. It’s not being left out of anything.

I wish I had the vocabulary to explain how much I hate this and why. Halle's little facial expressions are charming and adorable, but all of the motion just feels so flat and slippery and bad. You're acutely aware the whole time of the harnesses, computers, and green spandex involved in creating this.
It just slays me that the person who said he wants this to be a dud is the one who is posting on here nonstop. If you don’t like it, don’t freaking go. Simple as that. Don’t you have anything better to do with your time than trash a film you are not interested in and are not going to see? I’ve never before seen anyone so giddy about the prospect that a Disney film will be a “dud”. Oh wait, I forgot about all the trolls on the Strange World and Lightyear threads. Never mind.

I assume this photo correction app which probably fixes pixelation and eye issues.

By the way, I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy Part 3 tonight, and I saw it in 3-D RDX where the seats move, wind blows, they splash you with water, etc - and they showed an RDX 3-D preview of Little Mermaid and it looked absolutely fantastic. The movement of the RDX chairs was mild compared to the movement for Guardians of the Galaxy, where they were apparently trying to kill the entire audience, but we got splashed with a bunch of (mild) water sprays during the Mermaid preview, which I guess was to be expected..

Yes that is balanced reviewing. Talking about the high points and objectively speaking about the low points and talking about which comes out on top.

Can’t believe it needs to be said but social media influencers who are invited to studio advance screenings aren’t usually reliable sources on whether a movie is good or not.

Also film is a visual medium. If the handpicked influencers are saying the visuals are a little wonky, you can bet the mainstream reviewers are going to hammer it for the way it looks.

Perri Nemiroff is really good. I don't do TikTok and I don't really do YouTube much either, but the old Collider Jedi Council team of Peri Nemiroff, Jon Schnepp, John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Kristian Harloff, Mark Ellis, and Ken Napzok was great until they broke up and half of them went insane.
