Who said anything even remotely that someone was an idiot for not liking TLM…if someone saw it and did not care for it that is their prerogative…all film is suggestive…people are only questioned when they can critique the film without watching
Clearly, it was not meant to be a direct quote.

Why?

We all critique content before seeing it (when we decide what we want to see). None of us is capable of watching all the content that is released every day.

We all screen content.

Why are people not allowed to decide for themselves if a movie appeals to them?

There’s probably some trolling back upthread…and I bet it’s100% responses to blind pro-Disney snits…but…

…yeah. Saying the movie is not performing well and questioning Disney is not the same thing

But we all must kneel before Zod
I don’t know where you keep seeing all these blind pro-Disney “snits.” There has been a lot of trolling in all the movie threads lately and almost all of it - if not all - has been anti-Disney. Much of it isn’t there anymore.

Point is we don’t know the original budget only the budget with Covid costs added in. Taking the inflation adjusted budget of the previous live action films only gives part of the equation, you don’t know how much would have been required for Covid costs if produced at the same time as TLM.
There was was zero covid costs for lion king and it's reported at $260mil budget. I get inflation is only part of the picture. But I just don't see covid having that big of an impact on the films budget. At least not the amounts we would be talking about. They didn't add 70mil to the budget because of covid in my opinion. In 2006 they spent 225mil on pirates.

I don't quite understand why everyone thinks the domestic take is suddenly over. It's continuing to track in almost perfect lockstep with Aladdin domestically. I don't know if that means 325 or ultimately 350 like Aladdin... but what logic are people using that it will be 275? Nothing with its trend has indicated such.
I agree. Clearly there are repeat viewings.

Ever been on these threads before? It’s immediate and guaranteed

Posters always “root for the laundry”

There’s been a long list of failed product that were full throated advocated for on day 1

Probably before they know anything about them.

I never said people can not decide if a movie appeals to them… but he said now it is time to move onto the next movies failure(Elemental) as if he is actively rooting for it’s failure which I am certain he has not seen

It’s too abrasive…but probably true

Gonna be a tough summer for TWDC as it looks…nothing promising right now

I agree. People should not be commenting on the quality of the film without seeing it. Including saying the film isn’t good based solely on box office. If you want to comment on whether or not the film is good, just go see it or leave the comments to those who have.
Box office is a good objective measure of many things, and the perceived quality absolutely affects the box office. How the company chooses to market, and how it markets, a film affects box office. How well it is reviewed - a reflection of quality - affects box office. Word of mouth - another reflection of quality - affects box office. Whether or not someone likes the movie enough to become a repeat customer affects box office.

I get you want to gate keep on this issue, but box office is an objective way to assess how well a film is being received.

My guess is between $25M-$50M in Covid related costs were added to the budget, that's everything from the required protocols to the production stoppage due to Covid, which we know happened. The biggest of those were of course the production stoppage which lasted almost a year.

So even with my guess range removed from the budget that still makes it a pretty hefty budget. So make no mistake I'm not trying to say it doubled the budget, just that it added more than a few bucks to the budget.

I Would guess $25,000,000 can be the most that even Disneys bloated accounting could try to justify

Which doesn’t change much
