Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

Since we’re on the topic of Ariel, I found her way more tolerable and bearable in the live-action. I’ve mentioned this before, but Ariel is one of my least favorite Disney princesses. Live-action Ariel is more reasonable and balanced. None of that ridiculous “Daddy, I love him” nonsense from the animated version lol.
I mean, she was only sixteen in the animated version! Cut the girl some slack! (I adore cartoon Ariel and will defend her to the death!)

Can’t speak for anyone else, obv, but I didn’t call it an overall “hit,” or claim it’s some hugely significant cultural movie either. Just came to share my personal enjoyment of the film and personal experience at the theatre. Never claimed it to be more than that.
I never attributed these claims to you. I’m glad you enjoyed it, many have, including my daughter.

What a strange take. I guess I would need more context to try to understand it. Why is Daddy I love him bad?

No! Hahaha. I know, I know, but I find her annoying. Something I realized last night, even in the live-action, Ariel calls Triton “father,” whereas in the animated, she calls him “daddy.” Very childlike.

Oh they'll dip into that well for sure. I'd say if Moana is a success, Frozen won't be too far behind. Heck, even if the next couple fail hard, I'd put money on a Frozen remake. It would have a great shot at matching or surpassing Lion kings box office. And we know how Disney loves them dollar signs.
That’s why it was so important that Mermaid failed.

These remakes need to stop.

I don't think it matters what happens with mermaid. As much as I want the remakes to stop, I don't think failure will stop a Frozen remake. It's by far the most bankable of the animated movies they haven't done yet. If any remake can hit a billion and a half or greater, it's Frozen. That's unfortunately just how Disney rolls now.

Because at the point she said that she’d seen him once for less than 10 mins and rescued him from the ocean.

I mean I love both Ariels but animated ariel is definitely part of the reason kristoff jokes in Frozen about falling in love with someone you just met
