Disneyland's Rise Of The Resistance - Reviews, Criticism, Deep Thoughts

I can't believe that the same company who recently gave us duds such as Pixar Pier, MFSR, and Guardians made this ride. It feels like a completely different company that we can go from Incredicoaster to Rise of the Resistance in 2 years between openings.

This is a great time for themed entertainment if Disney continues making things even close to the level of quality of Rise.

It was so good that I left an uncrowded Disneyland at 1 pm since the other rides didn't interest me anymore after this.

I have to give great thanks to the actors who made this ride so amazing. They did a great job.

Well, Pixar pier was a hundred million dollars of slapping IP into the park. Meanwhile, SWL was a billion dollar slapping of IP into the park.

Pixar Pier brought us the immersively themed Incrediscreamin' experience. This is peak Imagineering.

By justifying the dramatic increase in prices. This whole time that they've been saying attendance is down, their revenue has been up. They're making more money with fewer people in the park.

Totally agree here. One thing SW:GE did was give DLR the courage to raise ticket prices and thin out the AP crowd. They did that very successfully and it now provides for a good opportunity for growth (if people really are willing to pay the new ticket price). However, they could have (and should have) done that regardless of SW:GE.

So what numbers would look good for Disney? 90 minute waits for Finding Nemo?

The need for food trucks and entertainers because of unexpected night time crowds (World of Color), the need to triple the number of hotel rooms (Hogwarts), the need to re-evaluate ticketing systems (Cars Land).

This was a major new investment by the leading Theme Park company. This should be having huge ripple effects in the theme park industry. Instead the only thing it seemed to accomplish was a massive increase in global ticket prices.

It's not all bad. The reviews for RotR sound great and I think it *will* bring new people to the parks. But I have to agree with @RobWDW1971. It sure feels like this could have been done much cheaper by just dropping RotR into DCA and forgetting about this whole Batuu thing.

I’m not sure if it’s the same droid as on display, but it definitely wasn’t made for the land. The pilot puppeteer is nearby too.

Watching the poor thing roll on the pavement with wheels that aren’t made for such a rough surface is somewhat painful. The casters are absolutely not designed for the land’s bumpy and hard hard ground.
You would think the land's surface would be made for rolling droids. Isn't that what they promised all this time?

Was the original plan to build rise in Tomorrowland? I know at one time there was going to be a new attraction built in Tomorrowland at DL and next to Star Tours st dhs. Was that attraction going to be Rise? Or was that going to be another attraction that got shelved?

Every time ROTR goes down they should have 2-3 storm troopers and Kylo Ren outside in front of the queue entrance bragging about how they stopped the resistance. Then they can even put it on the park map as entertainment since it’ll happen so often.

Insert into Rey's spiel:

Be aware that if you are taken prisoner, you must not reveal the location of our base. Even if Kylo Ren himself attempts to interrogate you. And especially if the First Order resorts to psychological assaults such as keeping you in a quiet room for a long time.

I thought it would have been cool if when you are in the interrogation room Kylo would mention the name of someone in the cell as having intel and that he wanted to interrogate that person himself. With the magic bands the system could randomly pull the name of someone in the room and then the resistance cast members that save you could also say we need to get and use the name again out of here. ET was able to do it decades ago......

So in ROTR, it’s the Rey who wants to kill Kylo and not the Rey who wants to kiss him?

Rey was slapped into the ride, although I like that she doesn't actually do anything aside from speak in a transmission. The rest of the experience is male-dominated and she really doesn't affect anything as any one of the rebels could have told us what we had to do. It's a cameo.

If anything Rise of the Resistance makes me hate The Last Jedi even more because if not for Rian Johnson's styoid movie we would have had a fully working Admiral Ackbar AA on the shuttle instead of Lt. Beck. Imagine a Ackbar AA saying ,"It's a trap!" Once the Tie Fighters show up. Damn you Last Jedi! Damn you Rian Johnson!
