IJA is a great attraction. Not one of my favorites, as the ride system doesn't bring any butterflies to the stomach like Splash, Thunder, Space, etc, but I can greatly appreciate its existence & effects, and still have a good time every ride.

Unlike M:BO, Incredicoaster, or HSM, which bring a bad taste to my mouth. Believe it or not, some time ago I actually did appreciate HSM but the longer it goes on, the more I dislike it.

Just terrible? C'mon.

Even if you don't like it, this isn't Nara Dreamland. I think we throw these negative adjectives around too freely.

Did Nara Dreamland have access to a billion dollars and the entire Star Wars universe's characters, locations, elements, and iconic music?

And yes, unfortunately, to build a "Star Wars Land" without so many of the key characters, elements, etc. that have been exhaustively listed in other threads and then instead choose to deliver what they did is just a tapestry of terrible, almost incomprehensible, creative decisions.

IMHO.

That’s fine. These kids disagree.

You have a lot of good points and I completely agree with you. It was also crazy how when it came to reserevations they never annoucned how to get them without a hotel stay until 1 month before the land opened. They were clearly trying to sell as many hotel stays as possible and waiting till the last minute.

Furthermore, it wasn't until March that they announced the opening date for Star Wars Land. How were people supposed to plan a vacation with this? They say the date last minute and then do a confusing system that most people were not willing to bother with.

The whole thing was a mess.

Of course hindsight is 20-20, but even then there were some glaring problems with the marketing plan that you would have thought they could recognize. I think TDA and Burbank were all blinded by hubris and just assumed that a million extra people would show up once Star Wars Land opened. The extra million stayed home, and then a slice of more casual visitors also stayed home.

Not only did Star Wars Land not grow Disneyland's attendance, it seems to have decreased it a bit.

And where the heck were all those "Star Wars Fanatics" that we were told would flock to Disneyland for the first time in their lives to see this thing?

And the purposely childless among us thank you. We need the future taxpayers to keep the country humming and keep Social Security solvent for a few more decades. Thanks for doing your part!
Those like you will never know the joy of seeing your seven-year-old ride Indiana Jones for the first time... or seeing him throw a public tantrum 10 minutes later when the ol' Disneyland sleep shortage kicks in.

I wonder how they are going to handle the marketing of Resistance finally opening in 2020.

Do they admit the land has already been open for over six months and tout it as a "new addition!", or do they pretend Star Wars Land is still brand new and tout it as part of a broader "Come to Disneyland to see Star Wars!" message?

I’ve been saying it for the last few years as one of my points for why SWL was not going to be as crazy as people thought. They were already there. Same demographic that was already visiting DL.

I think you might be right.

But so many folks said it across so many years, that I just assumed it was actually a thing and there was this big community of rabid Star Wars fans who never go to Disneyland who would finally show up in Anaheim for the first time to see this. I just bought into it, but maybe it was never really a thing?
