That park wide wifi better be decent. None of this constantly dropping and reconnecting I get at Knotts.
Have they increased it to park wide yet? Last I checked it was still isolated to specific spots in the park, centrally located to get passes via MaxPass.

Note, not MaxPass, just that they have the App loaded on their phone. Doesn't mean they even turn the phone on....

Still.. even if you count proximity hits... and not actual usage (which is total fluffing the numbers) I still question the number. Unless you again fluff the numbers by counting the absolute numbers and not uniques. So overzealous AP who visits 3 times a week counts for so many others that don't.

A typical usage pattern is that some, but not all members of a party would do these things... especially in couples/adults.

In numbers like this I wouldn't expect them to use unique guests, but just overall visits by guests. So all guests count no matter if its their 100th visit or its the 1st time.

How long until Disneyland implements their own Magic-band type of system? I'm amazed there isn't already one in place, especially seeing that most visitors are local.

Cause they’re a waste of money for the parks. Plus, they aren’t very environmentally friendly either. Think how much plastic waste these things cause when tossed.

Like all utilization brags... I fully expect it to be distorted metrics. Doesn't mean we have to take them at full face value :)

If everything is tied to the app on your phone, why do we even need a physical FastPass kiosk in the first place?

With no physical kiosk that people have to walk to MaxPass loses its value. Of course their could still be/ still are(?) benefits like the ability to obtain FPs more frequently but a lot of the perceived value would be gone. Kiosks won’t go away until free fast passes go away.

Even then I wouldn’t expect the kiosks to go away completely either. They’ll just be in several centralized locations in each land. That is what this is testing. I expect the other lands to start testing next year.

But this test is doing that. And anyone without a Smartphone or digital camera is out of luck. No Paper tickets will be issued. Should be interesting to hear the grips from old folks, or folks who batteries have died.

Or folks like me, who prefer to visit the Park 'technology free'.
I'd rather not shelp around a tablet just for that...I travel light through the turnstiles.

Thinking more about it, you don't need any device.

You scan your admission media, could be digital, or a paper ticket.

You pick your FastPass attraction.

It gives you your time window. You remember it, or if you have a pen/pencil, write it down, heck, on your hand/arm if needed.

When your window is open, scan your admission media barcode at the FP entrance.

Ah, okay...now it makes sense.
I thought you needed a device with the DLR app that needed to be scanned.
It is ticket media, however.....so that is good for old ladies like me!
:)

Scanning the ticket media for FP access is what is done at WDW currently.

I think they are testing for SWGE. I don't think they want fastpass kiosks for each ride, and by not giving out paper they reduce the litter issue that appeared once they stop taking the paper stubs.

I’ve been saving fastpasses in anticipation of this day. RIP paper and RIP off grid
