Based on the "Purple" code:

"As of August 31, 2020, counties in the Widespread (purple) tier may open some businesses and activities with modifications, including all retail, shopping centers at maximum 25% capacity, and hair salons and barbershops indoors. "

This means more things can reopen than were previously allowed.

I'm depressed.

I was a flurry of emotion during that news conference and My husband patted my back and made me a nice iced coffee 😂 if that isn’t true love, not sure what is.

I also heard that OC is in a unique predicament because, even though our numbers fit the red criteria, we have been off the list for about a week rather than 2-3 weeks, so it’ll be interesting if we move to red in a week or in two weeks. Not sure.

I am just intrigued by what new criteria will be. But I am absolutely not holding my breath. Glad I held my expectations low for today, despite all those signs. But I’m intrigued to hear what those theme park guidelines will be, especially because the reservations are still open for sept 16. Who knows. Sept 15 he may say that they’ll never open again 🤷🏻‍♀️

But if they ARE having conversations today, then I’ll keep a watch on the reservation website and see if those change. Or if the reservations get pushed. Because that’ll indicate something I would think. False hope, but better to have something. I could see them following the similar guidance for zoos in the red zone, which would allow for limited indoor activities with 25% capacity. So like Soarin’ with only 25% of guests in the chairs. But can you imagine RotR? There will be like 5 boarding groups a day if that’s the case haha

I was experienced all the stages

Based on what I could tell with how Newsom answered the question about theme parks, and it been confirmed by other sites, theme parks are not part of this new color system. They will have their own reopening guidelines, I assume being discussed in the meeting this afternoon. So I expect we'll hear more soon on that.

As for OC being in purple, I suspect it was because its currently in the 14 day waiting period. Once completed (Sept 6th) I guess it'll move to Red as long as they still meet those standards. But that is just a guess based on the new system. I would hope it wouldn't have to wait the new 21 days, which would put it into October.

It's possible they may try to reopen the hotels for dining, if indoor dining is allowed in Orange County, but theme parks will still be a long ways off. There are a lot of other businesses and steps that need to happen first, and careful monitoring along the way.

I interpreted the same thing 👍🏻 Hoping for the best

I can see that being the case, in opening the hotels and hotel dining without the parks. But I don’t want to jinx anything with the theme parks yet if they are having conversations this afternoon.

But barber shops on San Diego County are officially allowed to cut hair and do so indoors as of today
....if you had just waited....lol

I've had KNSD on in the background all afternoon, and they were trying to dissect Governor Newsom's new "framework to create guidance for safer stretch goals" or whatever the heck psychobabble he was blabbering about. It was very, very difficult to understand what he was saying, and how the new four-tier color-coded safer-state game works.

But what KNSD did say is that San Diego County barbershops are allowed to reopen, but not until Monday the 31st. I wasn't going to wait! ;)

Doesn't our society have enough color-related issues already??? Come on Newsom. Give us numbers instead.

Now that the big announcement is over, I've got KGB 760 on here, and the San Diego hosts and live callers are just eviscerating Sacramento and Newsom over this. It's very confusing, Newsom's HR pyschobabble only made it more confusing, and everyone feels like we've all been set back and put on a track where it will take a year to get back to normal.

There's also talk about Sea World and Legoland and how Sacramento ignored that issue entirely, as if that important industry just doesn't exist. Yet Newsom has detailed instructions for dozens of niche industries like body waxing studios, "satellite wagering sites" and dog walkers. Dog walkers!

And this is in San Diego which is officially a red coded county, which is somehow better than being coded purple?

Confusion reigns. Let's hope there's an announcement to clarify the announcement.

If there is a single person out there that still believes he is "listening to the science," they should be committed to a home for the mentally insane. First he won't follow CDC's new guidelines, then he changes to this color coded system that ignores hospitalization data for the most part, despite the whole point of this having been to prevent overwhelming the hospitals and on top of that, he carefully crafts the numbers so that OC, which was off the watch list as of Sunday is now back in the "Purple Tier", essentially placing it back on the watch list for possibly another three weeks minimum and don't think it is a coincidence that OC votes against him or that this isn't political payback.

The one silver lining is Disney, Universal, Sea World, Legoland and Knott's are all pushing him to allow for theme park reopening and if he doesn't, well, they should check some political boards for options on what they could support that could fix it very quickly.

Newsom probably uses those more than anything else.

Here's the announcement I want to see: Theme parks can reopen immediately with modifications.
