Looking at the new color tier system even if a county gets to the minimal risk tier (yellow) the guidelines for theme parks states

Theme parks are open
Open outdoors only with modifications, max TBD% capacity

A county in the moderate (orange color) still states Theme Parks must remain closed. I'm not sure DL will even open this year at this rate

It's entirely possible the park reopens this year. It's all determined by how much case rates increase as more and more businesses open up. This isn't at all different from what they have been saying all along.

If the cases remain steady at their current rate, the county can move to the yellow tier and parks can start to reopen in about 45 days.

Apparently there's a CM petition up asking Newsom to reopen Disneyland.....but last time I checked, they petitioned to keep Disneyland closed..

They did. Disney has been working to make the terms of their return far safer than they could have provided back in July, so the situation has changed.

That said, don't confuse the outcry of a few vocal CMs as a blanket endorsement of reopening from all CMs.

Based on relistening to how that question was answered, it seems theme parks and amusement parks are being addressed in a meeting today in the afternoon. The way he answered made it seem like it is easy to accommodate the larger theme parks (Disney Universal SeaWorld) and like he is even comfortable with what they’ve presented. but then there are smaller ones that need to be accommodated, because we all know that the big operators have done well in Florida and internationally. That’s the only good news to come out of this.

But I hope everyone sees through this presentation that it is indeed political and not based on “science and facts”. Because no way would you consider cases and positivity rate as your milestones and stop looking at hospitalizations, ICU rates, and death rates. The closures at the beginning were to not overwhelm the hospital systems, and in not looking at hospital numbers now, the goals have changed completely.

Yes. Exactly! "Two weeks to slow the spread" has become "7 cases per 100,000 is the worst case tier". This is absolutely insane!

OR can’t even think about opening schools again till we are less then 10 cases in 100,000. Will that ever happen? I doubt it/ It’s crazy. My daughter will likely graduate before then.
