Disneyland To Open Sept. 16th?

Agreed. The heat wave we had over the weekend was a mild one here in San Diego County, and looking at OC temps it was mild too. No heat records were set in OC or SD. It certainly got hot out in the deserts, but that's what deserts do in August; they get very hot.

I think all this talk of "heat wave" in the media was brought on because the SoCal summer up until now has been very mild, even cooler than normal in San Diego.

Hmmm. I don’t know. I live in the SF Valley aka the 7th circle of Hell in the Summer and I can’t remember so many triple digit or near triple digit days in a row. Usually we ll have any where from a 3-5 day heat wave with those temps. I feel like it’s been about 2 weeks straight at this point.

I agree that it had been a relatively mild summer up until about 2 weeks ago.

It's been disgusting. Thankfully, Disneyland has been closed all Summer, so none of those cast members have had to endure these hellish temperatures while guests find relief on Splash Mountain.

Not to burst anyone’s excitement bubble but I was talking to a cast member today who’s a good friend of mine and he received an email from Disney saying they expect the furlough to last longer than 6 months from the original furlough date in the middle of April which would mean longer than October

Actually, the original furlough email that we all got set our furloughment out for 1 year, so that means they may keep people out on furlough past April 2021 which if I was any one of the furloughed cast I'd start job hunting ASAP.

I am going to go ahead and side with the majority of people talking about this and say I believe the email was to remind people that they are furloughed and that they still have their jobs but not everyone is going to be called back obviously, I don't think this is saying the parks are going to remain closed for an extended period of time. I am hopeful for a September opening, but the problem is that cases could suddenly spike before opening and Newsom would shut that down immediately since it's ultimately the government's call: WDW reopened in a state that had become the epicenter of the country / the entire planet because there was no government interference. Whether you think that's good or not is another thing that I'm not going to talk about and ask that nobody speak on that part, I just think we need to hope things continue to trend the way they are in OC and if they do I could see a reopening within September. There's plenty of time to bring CMs back and train them on new procedures and others have said they see barriers / distancing markers / etc. in place so I'm sure the inside of the park has already gotten all the preventative measures like the other parks.

Yeah, I'm with you. I'm hard pressed to remember such a heatwave where it has been hot so many days in a row, and without much of a cool down in the evening. I usually prefer to turn off the AC at night and use window fans, but it has been too hot to do so.

This doesn't necessarily mean anything, but Disneyauditions.com has posted auditions for California Adventure.

They say the submission deadline is Sep. 6th, but who know when the performers would actually begin working. It could be that they're just hiring for reserve members for when they do decide to open. Still, it's interesting to see that SOMETHING is going on over there.

I hope you re right about DL but wouldn’t places like the SD Zoo just limit capacity to reduce crowds?
They are limiting to 50% capacity, but they are consistently hitting this every weekend and the employees want to get to a point that they don't hit their max capacity every weekend because it makes it a lot easier when they don't have to do one in and one out.

I got the same survey.

This didn't look to be about reopening specifically, but rather the AP program at large. I suspect they are looking for input on potential changes to the AP program.
Wish I would get such an offer, my guess is they want to know what compensation people with various pass levels will want for them requiring reservations for all pass levels permanently.

The survey basically listed the expected changes to the park experience and asked how likely you are to keep your pass. I wonder if those dates mean they don't expect to open until after then...
