Yes
Not to burst anyone’s excitement bubble but I was talking to a cast member today who’s a good friend of mine and he received an email from Disney saying they expect the furlough to last longer than 6 months from the original furlough date in the middle of April which would mean longer than October

This actually doesn’t mean anything for us waiting for the Disneyland parks to open. My sister got the email, and she is on furlough at WDW, with their parks already open. This seems more like a notice to those not getting called back yet that they are still furloughed thankfully and not fired.

We'll see what happens. I'm not saying reopening is happening next week. But sometime in September is still doable.

Also I'd just like to echo what has been said already, this is just a repeat of the email they sent out in April basically word for word.
Yes and no, anything is possible, I think October November is more likely. They can open up more and see what happens, Orange County is in the 2 week period now anyway so things need to continue in the direction that they are in Orange County or they will unfortunately be put back on the watch list

Actually it was a very poorly worded email that was basically reminding CMs they had the option to take PTO instead of unemployment benefits if need be. And it was a CYA email as well in case the furloughs do last longer, a lot of it has to do with what they are legally required to do and doesn't mean the parks will be closed for any specific amount of time. Also, remember that not all CMs will be coming back right away even when the parks do reopen many will remain on furlough and that could extend into or maybe even through all of next year for some.

Lol the park is opening now?
The San Diego Zoo has been open for some time now and is actually having a very real problem with hitting capacity every single weekend. They are operating at 50% of normal capacity and don't have the skyfari or bus tours open, so that is a small part of it, but really their employees want other theme parks to reopen to draw some of the crowds away to make it a bit more manageable.

This isn't even close to SoCal's worst heat wave in 20 years. It's hot, yes, but early July 2018 reached 117 degrees at DLR and mid June 2016 reached 114 degrees at DLR. We've had one day this year (last Tuesday) that reached 100.

Agreed. The heat wave we had over the weekend was a mild one here in San Diego County, and looking at OC temps it was mild too. No heat records were set in OC or SD. It certainly got hot out in the deserts, but that's what deserts do in August; they get very hot.

I think all this talk of "heat wave" in the media was brought on because the SoCal summer up until now has been very mild, even cooler than normal in San Diego.

...I think much of the focus at least initially will be on getting K-6 education on a hybrid schedule on counties off the watch list first...
The process for schools is already laid out (basically the only dang thing laid out at this point). K-6 can petition for in person classes as soon as cases drop below 200/100k, they don’t even need to be off the monitoring list. 7-12 are 2 weeks after getting off the monitoring list. The rules for quarantines and closures if student/s get sick are already laid out.

The guidance that’s needed is for everything else in the state and that’s what I expect the governor to lay out later this week.

We were in Dana Point on Sunday and it was pretty warm for down there...and the humidity. Not Florida level but still kinda sucked.

My guess is previews will start around the 18th (maybe before, maybe after), but around this date seems highly likely and necessary to reduce crowding at the places that are open like the San Diego Zoo.

I hope you re right about DL but wouldn’t places like the SD Zoo just limit capacity to reduce crowds?
