Disneyland To Open Sept. 16th?

I wonder if Disney will get a broad exception from the standard anyway which would make this point moot. The indoor vs. outdoor standard seems challenging to apply unless there is a strict rule. For example: It’s clear Dumbo and the Tea Cups are “outdoor attractions”. It’s clear IJA, SM, Pirates and HM are definitively indoor experiences.

But if I’m Disney I could make a conceivable argument that any ride with vehicles that are exposed to open air and/or UV light at any point during the ride experience and/or boarding process are “outdoor”. Thus, shouldn’t Splash Mountain, BTM, Matterhorn and even Small World, Pooh, and Alice be included? I’d argue, yes.

Heck, even RoTR has an outdoor finale/component. And if you strictly limit capacity you could space people during the preshow was shown at Hollywood Studios.
Well we already know that theme parks are not currently part of this new tier system as Newsom said as such. The Register was just showing how Disneyland could reopening in stages starting today if it did fall under the new tier system.

We'll see what happens when Newsom releases the theme park guidelines. But I suspect just like before when Disneyland was able to stay opened early on, they will be given its own guidelines which includes the ability to operate indoor attractions.

While we know that theme parks are not part of the new California 4-tier system, the OC Register has a good run down of how Disneyland could potentially reopen in stages starting today:

In case anyone gets hit with the "free article limit reached for the month" on OC Register:

What they think can reopen in phases if they were to open this week but it only covered Tiers 1, 2 and 4

Tier 1

The Disneyland Railroad, Mark Twain Riverboat, Columbia Sailing Ship and possibly even the Disneyland Monorail could open immediately in Tier 1 under public transportation guidelines. Outdoor theater shows like “Mickey and the Magical Map” and “Storytelling at the Royal Theatre” could reopen in Tier 1 as well with social distancing protocols.

Tier 2

A few Disneyland attractions could reopen in Tier 2 under indoor theater guidance — including Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Main Street Cinema and Enchanted Tiki Room. Star Wars: Launch Bay could return in Tier 2 under museum guidelines.

Tier 4

Family entertainment center guidelines allow indoor playgrounds to reopen in Tier 4 — which could apply to Chip and Dale’s Treehouse, Goofy’s Playhouse and Donald’s Boat.

Different things. That was a company (Character Depot) that went out of business a few years back (2013?)

Character Warehouse are only at Orlando and Disney owned/operated.
Disney Store Outlet is like a typical outlet Disney store in malls, but they occasionally get parks stuff.
That's what I thought. It was still called Disney Character Warehouse if I remember correctly. I wonder if once they went under, Disney just decided to use that name.

Again that is if Disneyland falls under the current tier system, which it likely does not. :)

But thanks for the summary.

So the Florida AP situation was a mess and still is(though it is a little better). How much more of a mess will the Disneyland AP circumstances be once a reopen date is announced? Will dates be booked for months on end? That's my question.

Its unknown at this point how the AP booking would work at Disneyland. However it was suspected it would be similar to the Flex AP booking procedures.

I'm guessing it will be a absolute cluster with APs flooding guest services with complaints. I would not want to be in guest services. My gut tells me Disney won't open up new AP sales for a while in an effort to appease current passholders. Can you imagine the bigger uproar if they limited AP attendance AND increased the AP population? Oi.

They haven't opened new APs in WDW yet either have they? I suspect new APs are on hold for at least a year.

This is what I can currently pull from my various sources. I believe it will be similar to WDW's system, just shorter time periods and not an indefinite booking option.

Magic Morning, Extra Magic Hour, FASTPASS service and Disney MaxPass will be unavailable until further notice to help manage capacity and promote physical distancing. Certain other attractions, restaurants, experiences and offerings will be modified or unavailable, will be limited in capacity and will be subject to limited availability or even closure. Offerings are not guaranteed.

Annual Passports - If you have an Annual Passport, your theme park reservation is for the park that you selected. If your Annual Passport is not blocked out for either park, your theme park reservation is for the first park you will visit for the day. You may enter the other park later that day after 1:00 PM.

Hotel Reservations - Theme park reservations for tickets associated with a Disneyland Resort hotel stay can be made up to 60 days in advance and can be reserved for a date up to 5 days prior to your resort arrival. Please note that children younger than age 3 do not need a theme park reservation or admission and may accompany you on your visit. Theme park reservations are limited, and availability is subject to capacity. Park admission is not guaranteed.

Any Passholder who is a "no-show" for 3 reservations in a 90-day period will be unable to make a new reservation for the next 30 days.

There's then two options for AP reservations, which one is correct is currently unknown.

Theme park reservations for Annual Passports can be made up to 14 days in advance and you can hold up to 2 reservations at a time.

Theme park reservations for Annual Passports can be made up to 120 days in advance and you can hold up to 2 reservations at a time.

This "two sides" thing is true for tickets, and cast comp tickets as well.

I remembered someone went through it but couldn't remember who. Forgive me for not remembering it was you. But thanks for the summary :)

Absolutely no problem. I also try to keep my opinions out of those type of posts, now if you want my opinion...

I think APs will be 14 days out, and tickets will be 60 to line up with resort reservations.

We can't reopen safely anytime soon. Now we'll have to contend with the common cold and then seasonal allergies? 10 years in the Purple Phase at the minimum until The Science determines the next course of action. RIP Disney Land.

Boy did I see and hear some juicy things today.

Went to DTD for my reservation at the limited edition 65th pin event. In terms of conversation, I chatted up a storm with one of the nicest CMs (and I know they all typically are, but she was so sweet!) when I had mentioned that I had not seen DL for Halloween or Christmas (as I am a brand new AP) she mentioned that she hopes that the parks open this year to see the Halloween and Christmas decorations, but she said “rumor has it that is we keep doing well and can make it to the next tier of the watch list, newsom will let you see both decorations”. So there is that.

Also, there is soooo much going on behind the scenes. Trucks, painting, food delivery all seen from usually-closed maintenance and delivery areas behind the theme parks. I saw them touching up street lamps in green alongside Disneyland Drive. I saw a food delivery truck go into that gated area by Space Mountain (Santa Monica seafood truck). Grand Californian’s parking lot was incredibly and unusually busy based on every time I’ve seen it during this closure. Parking lot by other DTD entrance (by ESPN zone) was filled completely, and while I’m not sure if CMs are using this lot, I know that they were using DL hotel lot before and this was just WAY more cars than there would be workers in DTD alone. New pieces of duct tape are being laid out for proper markers to go in their place that stretches WAY far out to the parking lot. There is a crane by where Runaway Railway is going/ near galaxy edge. there was a maintenance vehicle behind splash mountain. The Mickey wheel was turning.

You can explain and brush off a few of these things, but the activity there today was unique for the many times I’ve been there since reopening.

Thanks for the on-site update.

Based on your first hand accounts it does at least look like they are preparing to reopen soon. Now we'll have to wait and see if that really happens or not.
